    Tire size

My child has a Spawn Banshee, I believe the bike comes with 16' x 1.5 tyres.

I am looking at replacing them.
she is quite small, and most of our riding will be on hard pack or road.

I am looking at mad mikes, and thinking 2.125 is way bigger than she needs, and they are available in a 1.7? and reason to go up to a 2.25?

next question, is there any other suggested tires?

but pattern wise looking more for something like these
    https://www.kendatire.com/en/bicycle/bmx/
    in a 16 x 1.7

still wondering is 2.125 is too big??

I forget what these are on my son's Banshee, but I know they are at least 2.2". I think 2.3"?

I thiiiiiink they are Kendas but I honestly forget. They were like $15 a piece.

I had them on from the day he got the bike, so he knows nothing else, and never complains about any perceived weight gain over his older 12" bike with slicker tires- but he DEFINITELY noticed and spoke about the added traction, even at 4 years old. He used to crash a lot at the bottom of this one paved hill we go on, it descends into a turn with loose stone scattered about, and the first time he plowed through it with these tires he was amazed.

We run them on the lower side, as evident in picture 2.

Is there anything wrong with the current tires you are replacing? They are rather ideal I think for the riding you are describing.

You are right the tires that came with it would e Ideal for 90+% of the riding she is going to be doing. If they were not completely blown out (previous owner)

I do not even know what the tires it came with are called or where to get them. (maybe from spawn)

but in all honesty I would like a little more traction/confidence than what is on them.

    Options I found

    Schwalbe mad mike
    kenda k50

I would love to find something like a
    Small Block Eight
or a hutchinson python / hooper

in a 16 inch tire. good luck with that.
as both tires I believe have Ideal pattern.

Oooh, man the prior kid owner did a lot of riding lol.

Finding 16" tires is RIDICULOUSLY hard. Like, I remember seeing a bunch being made per manufacturer website but couldn't find a place to buy them from.

    How about these:

Kenda Kontact 16 Tire at Dan's Comp

or Niagara Cycle seems to have a ton:

either a lot of riding, or a lot of leaving black marks on the road, I have looked at the contact, have yet to find one for sale. as well as to contour looks to be quite flat along the primary.

    Sunlite Tire, 16 x 1.75 Black/Black Kontact K841

I am surprised that that comp 3 patern is used by so many companies.

Oooh Schwalbe US has a few in stock in 16"

Product Search | Schwalbe North America

Seems like 16x1.5-1.75 aren't too bad to find.

after much research and shopping, I bought Shwalbe mad mikes.
Wish I could have found blackjacks by the same company.
the rolling profile of the blackjacks looks just about perfect. As well as being 2 oz. lighter than that Mad mikes.

But mad mikes can be bought just about anywhere. are often on sale, and I got them shipped with the "rest" of my order.
