Our local event (near Allentown, PA) is being done on Sunday due to hunting on Saturday at the location. It's my first one, my son is 4 and he is super stoked to be riding with other kids instead of just me lol

My son is certainly going to be riding with me tomorrow and Sunday.
His birthday is next week and when we asked him what he wanted to do, he said he wanted to take some of his friends mountain biking.
I volunteered my buddy to help and we're taking three friends around the green loop at our regular trail and then out to eat. Should be interesting.

    Columbus, OH reporting

I took my seven year old for his first real trip to ride on a mountain bike trail at our local TAKMBD:

He's only been to this trail system for trail work before this.

If you're my mom, you can read more details on my blog post.

    Neat story seat_boy!

For us it was also a perfect day for Mountain Biking. Many of the ten+ kids were regulars to the event. We had seen some at this event four years in a row. There was a lot more girls this year... and they of course did great! I ended up riding with them at times and it was neat how they encouraged each other across obstacles.

A big thanks to the LBS Bike Zoo and IMBA for putting on the event.

    Ride Like A Kid 7

Our local event in Orange County California is called Ride Like A Kid, it is put on by a group of volunteers headed up by Adam Davidson. Each year it has gotten bigger and bigger. It started 7 years ago with thirty people and this year had more than 275 (about 100-150 kids). It was broken into 4 different ability levels. I helped sweep the most advanced group who did about 10 miles with some fairly technical riding. My 13 year old rode with the group I was helping with. My 9 year old daughter Ryan, and 7 year son Conner rode in the next level down with their Grandma they did about six miles. After the rides finished there is a giant BBQ and the biggest raffle I have ever seen, it goes on for over an hour and every kid get 2 tickets (no tickets are sold). Each kid also receives a swag bag filled with t shirts, stickers, magazines, and other mtb related stuff. They also raised over $800 for Hans Reys Wheels For Life Charity. Hans even rode with one of the groups, helped push Conner up a tough hill and hung around to sign autographs. Here are some pictures:

My son had a blast! Although he's been on singletrack, it was never a group ride with other kids, so he was going crazy, he was so stoked he cranked out 5 miles without ever wanting to quit. Our riding group had two 4 year olds (my son is 4), and three 6-8 year olds.

That log bridge is VERY bumpy with 16" wheels lol

Thanks! He loves it. Stock except for the 2.4" knobbies and a water bottle cage on the handlebars. We were going to do the 3 speed conversion but decided to let it be.

We had a great time and will do it again. My six year old rode pretty well on his BMX mini with 36/16 gearing! Even at his age, he has the 'stand up and stomp' thing down for the short climbs. Goofing off between rides at our local event:
