SuperLight 79 / Velocity Aeroheat 24" front wheel

With a spare rim 32h velocity 24" rim, left-over 16h road bike front hub and a box of spoke blanks to put through my Hozan spoke threading machine, I figured it was time to put together a lightweight 24" front wheel. Finished weight was exactly 600g. It's great to be able to make my own spokes, particularly for kids wheels as its very hard to get certain sizes.

Did Velocity's prices go way up in the past few years?

I got mine from my LBS just through Quality and they were like $30 a piece.

$50's a good price. They are almost twice that in Aust from the LBS and still more than that straight from the Aust distro. I would not use them if there was anything else available in 32h with a rim brake surface at that weight. Alex ACE20's are the best option, but I couldn't find them for sale anywhere. They are no longer listed on the AlexRims website either.

Retail, at least since I've been working at shops (2004 or so), has been $6x-$7x per rim.
