Last night I was pulling my two daughters on singletrack and I snapped the quick release axle assembly in half on the D-lite wheel. This allowed the wheel to come off and suddenly the trailer was skidding. Fortunately we were climbing, and there were no rocks.
I have had the wheel come loose and fall off unexpectedly two other times on the trailer.
I no longer trust the Burley off road, and maybe not on-road with that particular design. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Has anyone ever upgraded or reinforced the axle?
The photo shows that this is the older, skewer style quick release. You only have to install a wheel once to realize it is a fragile design.
