Short Stem for 20" Bike Recommendation?
I need some help finding a stem around 50mm (or less) for my son's 20" Scott bike. I am assuming that I should be looking for a BMX stem, but I don't know where to start.
Standard 1 1/8 steerer tube / 31.8 clamp. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I built his bike. I needed to shorten the reach at his age, so I wanted to use bars with a good amount of sweep. Origin 8 made a pair with 15* backsweep in a 31.8mm that were $20. And that made it easy to combine with the fairly inexpensive 40mm downhill stem listed above.

A couple of options:
On-One Ultralight CNC Stem, 31.8mm clamp, 50mm length, black or silver, light (110g @ 60mm), reasonable price, available in the UK and the US.
Superstar Zephir CNC Stem, 31.8mm clamp, 50mm length, black, white, red, gunmetal, light (108g @ 50mm), bit more expensive than the On-One, available in the UK (not sure about the US?)
Superstar also do the Zenith AM Stem which is heavier (124g @ 50mm) but a bit cheaper.
These stems appear identical and in all likelihood come from the same factory in Taiwan, so there's probably other branded identical stems floating round on eBay etc.

I have the Truvative stem listed above on my son's bike.
It isn't the lightest one in the world, but it fits the bill perfectly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I managed to find a Bontrager Big Earl 50mm Stem on eBay for $20.
