    kids bike update

So I thoought I post little update on my kids bikes.

My son has proven to be a very good climber and really wasn't using his granny. So I ended up going 1x10 on his Marin for him. That allowed me to move the XT shifters, XTR RD and XT cassette to my daughters Cannondale Race 24

    Wheels from the son's Marin

Hey TwoTone, do you know the weight on your daughters Race 24 by chance? Do you know what it was stock?

Didn't weight it before. The scale I have is cheap, so I really only use to get a comparison of what came off to what's going.

Your children are very lucky kids.

My son is riding a stock Dynamite 20". At his height, and at the rate he grows, I'm hesitant to put work into a bike he'll grow out of quickly.

I didn't put much in the 20 inch bikes other then light tires.

I believe on keeping a child on a smaller bike to learn better bike skills, so the 24s will last a while and all the parts other than the wheels can move on to a 26 inch frame when needed.

I kept the stock parts so I won't lose as much when I sell them. The wheels I'll sell on here when it's time.

Oh and a lot of it is EBay bargins. The 10 speed stuff on my son's bike is the first new parts from a store I've bought.

In my other thread about the bike, I mentioned lucking into the full BB7s for $60 on the bay, complete 9sd XT drivetrain for $60 as well.

I had the same thoughts on Lewis's 24 inch but most of the stuff can be transferred over to a bigger bike once he grows or I keep it for his younger brother.
