First ride back from broken arm

So here are some pics from my son's ride a couple of weeks ago. First mountain ride back since a broken arm at the end of the summer. Unfortunately it didn't end well. First log crossing that he leads out didn't have a roll out on the other side.

Other arm, snapped the head of the radius off. 3 broken arms in 16 months. He was a trooper though, had to walk 2 miles down singletrack to hang out at a dirt road where I had to leave him for 30 minutes to go get the car. Scared the hell out of me to leave him. Luckily when I got back two nice women we road up with part way came back across him and kept him company. I am a little worried though, he really liked the Ketamine they used when they set it. He is already asking if he can get on the back of the tandem.

Glad to hear he is such a trooper. Have you considered pads or armor in kid-friendly sizes, are would those likely not have helped? It is something I think about, my 9yo goes into the dirt a few times per ride, and thus far he's come out unscathed, but I may be pushing the luck. It's hard to dial him back sometimes...
