    Cheap bike rack conversion

I've always had to kludge getting my kids bikes on the roof rack to get them to the park. I had some old Thule wheel holders in the garage, removed the clamp-to-bar mechanism, so I slipped a cut up noodle on the legs and clamped it in my fork-mount tray. The front tire wedges nicely between the padded fork arms. Hey presto - instant and cheap (free) front wheel holder!

Add a bungee to maintain tension and you're all set. My 5 year old's 16" Hotrock sits nice and secure in the tray, held by the front wheel and with the rear wheel secured by the tray strap.

My 3 year old's 12" Hotrock simply sits in the wire basket since it has training wheels. Bungee'ed down to the basket, wheels aligned with the wire gaps.

Creative! I like it! I bought an old Cannondale fork that won't work for my needs, but I think I could probably do the same thing! Thanks for the tip!
