it is pretty common when people post bike reviews or talk about upgrades to mention the wheels. When i was researching for my purchase, lots of reviews for various bikes mention ditching the stock wheels first thing. People also say its the best spot to put extra dough if you have it (maybe depending on suspension).

So what exactly makes "better" wheels better? I know its not just a weight weenie thing. Things like tracking, and cornering get mentioned as noticeable improvements.

are we talking about the effects of rotational mass? unsprung weight? just better built?

Hi I am possibly looking to get some UST tyres.

I've found some cheap Rocket Rons, but I had terrible problems with the normal Rocket Rons.

I used to get a puncture on every ride!!

I can't find any UST Racing Ralphs, so what else is out there.

I want something with good protection and wear.

Thanks

Hey guys, ever since I picked up my bike I've had problems with the tires seating in the rims (mostly the rear). Whenever I try to seat it and air it up, there is always a spot on the tire bead that seems to seat much lower than the rest of the rim, causing there to be a low spot in the tire, I've had three sets of tires on it and still no luck, should I swing by the lbs and see if they can help?
Thanks

Anybody run low pressure with tubes?

I've gotten 1 pinch flat, and that's when I got my new wheels and pumped it to 24-26 psi.

What I usually do is pump it up to the "minimum" required psi, which is 35 psi (I think) for my Panaracer Rampage, then deflate them to 24-26 psi.

I ride rigid and quite aggressively (230 lb with gears), and not a single pinch flat since last season.

I don't know if my method is foolproof, but it seems to work well for me.
