After a few weeks of Tahoe riding this season I felt ready to try one of my favorites: Mt. Rose down Van Sickle via the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) above Marlette Lake. With three major climbs at high elevation, this is a pretty tough ride. Since it is a point to point ride I normally need another person. However, my nephew was in town and he volunteered to drop me off at Mt. Rose. It was pretty cool for this time of year and out in the open there were quite cold and occasionally very high winds.

The legs felt as strong as ever and I actually had to hold back a bit on the first two climbs because I usually start to fizzle out at about 37 miles on the final climb to the top of Van Sickle. I've never created any Strava segments, but there are already plenty along the route to confirm I did some of my fastest riding ever. But most importantly, I felt pretty good, instead of dead, at the finish.

The masochists are rolling through town this week. There was a pretty good wave yesterday. The racers ride through downtown, by the brewery and then right past my house, so the race is a bit of an annual spectacle.

The leaderboard is here, in case anyone follows them like my neighbor. Since she saw the movie, she's been obsessed.
