I'm visiting the area, sort of, memorial day weekend and have added this as a destination. Anyone free and interested in guiding / joining me for a 20 - 30 mile ride? I'm not super fast but I like to think I get along pretty well. It would appear there's a 100 mile race coming up at this place.. Tagging along on a training ride sounds like a good description of what I'd be looking for.

My schedule is up in the air right now but I think Sunday will be my best bet. I think early morning (7-8 am) or around 4 pm would work out best.

Let me know if anyone would be interested, day/time might be flexible.

If nothing else, if I could get some pointers for getting around the place I'd appreciate that also.

Thanks OH.

Hi,
I remember reading some posts a couple of years ago of riders mounting 650B wheels on RFX's.
Searched the web but could not find too much information on this.
So actually, my questions are regarding the 2008 RFX :
Is 650B at the rear wheel a go or a no go ? is clearance good enough with today's 650 tires ?
Would you go for a specific 650b fork ?
If you have pic's of 650b RFX's and could post them this would be great.
Thanks

Lynskey PRO29 frame warranty - Awesome service

I had a PRO29 frame that lifted/cracked at the headtube/toptube weld about 1cm along the weld. Only...

I had a PRO29 frame that lifted/cracked at the headtube/toptube weld about 1cm along the weld. Only small but enough to make me worry about riding it. I read lots of reviews about life time warranty, people being pissed off about things not going their way etc... I thought I'd write a positive review.

I live in OZ, bought directly from Don @ Lynskey in 2010. I was cleaning it down and noticed a 1cm lifting in the weld at the toptube / headtube joint. I was worried about if it would be covered, how much postage to the states, and after reading some horror stories about warranties, I nervously sent an email to Don.

He replied within 12 hrs, "sorry to hear you have issues... please send some pictures" etc. I emailed them through. Within a day, had a RA number, was told to strip the frame and send it back.

I looked around for the cheapest way from OZ and FEDEX wanted $600, I reply to Don, with a joke of how much the postage cost, and he even suggested a cheaper method (under $200).

A month later it's arrived back. The weld has been fixed, and refinished. Which is all I asked for. THANKS. They have ALSO added a brand new set of sliders both SS and geared w/ bolts. They ALSO tidied up the dropped chain gouges on the chain stay and ALSO put a brand new head badge on!!! I couldn't be happier.

I'm not sure who / where the bad reviews are coming from, but all my experiences with Lynskey have been very positive. I can understand that people may find that Don adds in the hard sell, but you know what he also backs it up with first rate warranty service and communication. No questions about usage or anything, all I got was YES and how can we help.

I am glad I bought a Lynskey, I love the PRO29, I've raced it both SS and gears and it never fails to make me smile. And now with this warranty service makes me feel even more confident with my decision years later.

Thanks guys! Simon

Im basically looking for a new front tyre which is relatively cheap as I cant be affording to be splashing out right now.

All of these tyres are available for under £20 on sale and I am currently using a 2.1 High Roller on the front which is a bit slippy to say the least; in any conditions but dry.

The AM Invader does seem to have nice chunks and deep tread; where as the other two seem to resemble a HR.

Any usage/experience with any of the above three tyres?
Cheers as always!

Hi guys i hope someone can share wisdom in relation to my problem.

I have recently bought an Orbea Occam H50 (3X9 speed). I really loved the bike, especially since this is my first full suspension bike. Unfortunately during my first rides i noticed that when i am at the large chaining and small sprocket (ie highest, most heavy) gear and i push really hard the pedals, the drivetrain makes a (really loud) rubbing noise. I can see that the chain is rubbing to the outside end of the front derailleur.

I have taken the bike back to the shop and at fist they suggested the FD needs adjustment (what they did and after that the chain rubbed at the lowest gear) and after several discussions with them and after trying changing the crankest they attributed the noise to frame flex and rendered the issue as normal and refused to do anything.

I am convinced this is not normal as the noise is not just the simple rubbing noise but is rather loud.

Anw i tried adjusting the derailleur myself. I have tried resetting the angle, the height and the barrel adjustment numerous times. By doing this i noticed the following. When i am at the biggest sprocket and i shift from the smallest chain ring to the middle chain ring the chain rubs on the inside of the derailleur (and it does for the top half of the rear gears). I adjust the barrel adjustor to eliminate the issue. Then when i shift to the largest chain ring and then the chain rubs for the bottom half of the rear gear. So it is as if i can either tune it to be rubb-free at either the middle or large chain ring (irrespective of frame flex issue). Somehow it seems that when switching from middle to large chain ring the shifter is not pulling enough cable to move the cage out enough.

I believe limit screws are set correctly as i have followed a number of tutorials

Shifters are Alivio shifter, derailleur is Deore (10 speed rated)

I appreciate your help

hello everyone
i saw previous posts quit similar to what I'm gonna ask but couldn't get a definitive answer. so sorry for bothering.
well, i just bought that new bike and i think i need to upgrade the fork.
i am not quit familiar yet with the technical aspects of all tons of fork i've seen across the web.
ill make it simpler, lets say my top budget is around 350$ and i wanna 140mm fork. and i think i want an air fork(one that i put air in with a pressure pump)i think its better then the one i got with the bike in which i cant put air. right?
i don't know about single or dual air(dual sounds better).
in other threads about upgrading front forks for giant trance x4 i saw forum members suggesting the rockshox revelation series. but on the sram website i couldn't understand much.
i saw two other brands mentioned:marzocchi and manitou but i got the impression rockshox was better and Fox too .
any how i came across two deals :
1-RockShox Revelation RL 26in Suspension Fork 150mm 1.5in 15mm Thru White @ 280$
2- RockShox Revelation Race Dual Air Fork 140mm @ 340$
so the question is :will it blend
well kind of, my question is are they any good? which one is better and most important will they fit into my bike.

on bottom line; what is the best fork for the best price i can get for my bike .

any information would be much appreciated .

I have a '01 Cannondale F900SX, 26lb hardtail bike. Everything is working well except that during the steep climb and pedaling really hard, I found out that the cassette side of the rear wheel axle will move slightly forward-down so that the tire is not centered. Sometimes it is severe enough that the tire will scrape the chainstay.

This is really annoying 'cause I have to set my BB7 brake pads to have wider spacing to accommodate the added tilt after a hard climb. Please help. Thanks!

Below is what I have done trying to resolve this but to no avail:
1) Use degreaser to clean the mating surfaces
2) I noticed that the mating surfaces are pretty smooth after all these years of use so I added a barbed washer but still no worky
3) Tighten my Quick Release unbelievably tight like there is no tomorrow, it still moves at some point after a hard climb.
3) changed the stock quick release to a new Performance Bike Quick Release, or to another stock quick release from my other Cannondale SL4, or to a hex skewer. None worked.

Hi all, I've been fine tuning my 2007 stumpjumper comp, and at best the front derailleur (shimano deore m581) scrapes on the derailleur cage when on the large chain ring and smallest rear cog, and the smallest chainring and two largest rear cogs. I've followed a bunch of good forums and instructional videos, but it seems physically impossible for me to tune the front derailleur to not scrape... ie. the low limit screw is screwed in as far as can go (as close to bike as possible) and it still scrapes on the small chain ring and largest two rear cogs. Some people suggest this is normal for some derailleur / shifter brands. Does anyone have any recommendations for replacement derailleur / shifters? My shifter is sram x7. Cheers.
