    World Solo Championship Suggestions

I qualified at a marathon race for the World Solo Champs, and was wondering if anyone could give me ANY kind of pointers, suggestions on what to bring, basically anything you want to say: tire choice, weather, clothing, bike, whatever!! I would really appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks.

Another Question...Is music in one ear good? I've been thinking it might help pass the time at night.

    Whoa!

This is a way detailed question. It would take a good solid hour to list all the Do's and Don'ts for World's. That is half the reason nobody has replied.
    Some advice:
    - Bring 2 identical bikes
    - Bring all the cycling clothes your own (prepare for the worst...snow, rain, drought, etc)
    - Bring atleast 2 people to crew
    - Lots of food (bring what works best for you)
    - A table
    - A 10 x 10 tent
    - A "have fun attitude"
    - back up parts (chains, spokes, wheels, tires, der's)
    - Many, many, many more things to list, but not enought time.

I wouldn't bother with music. Don't forget the WSC is run with a whole bunch of teams as well, so you are going to have people passing you at speed as well as you trying to pass slower riders. I would try to stay aware of them. And at night it might be an idea to concentrate on riding. A lot of little mistakes through the night can be very tiring.
    Cheers, Dave

i bought an mp3 player for a solo 24 and never turned it on. i found sanity in communicating with all the team riders who were constantly passing by... i felt music would distance me from the race and potentially cause me to lose concentration and take a digger, etc...

as far as what to bring - just make sure you've got every type of food you think you'd like to eat when riding... plus all the obvious bike part stuff... and a pit crew that is excited to be there - if their enthusiasm isn't high, yours won't be either. see you in whistler & good luck.
