My money is on Todd Wells. He's had a pretty awesome year and has always had good races. Albin Lakata is another tope contender if he's racing this year. I haven't seen a list of what big names will be there.

I'll be there racing this year. Hoping to make it a little ways up Columbine before the leaders passing me heading back in. I was almost to the start of Columbine when Todd Wells passed me inbound on his way to victory in 2011.
If you ever see a turtle on a telephone pole, remember he had help getting there. Is there anything beer can't do?

Alban Lakata (Austria) for the men. Sally Bigham (UK) for the women. But, we are bias

Can't count out other strong riders and past winners; Wells, Sauser, Rusch. So many strong riders, it's all going to come down to who has the best legs and luck.

It's going to be a horse race, that's for sure!

What was up with the times this year. New records for Men and Women. Any changes to the trails?
Are we putting air in the tires today?

Course conditions and weather about as perfect as they can get; no wind, pre-event rain, hero dirt. Plus, Alban and Sally are beasts. Even for us, it's hard to wrap our heads around how fast they are. Same goes for guys like Wells and Sauser. These riders are the best at what they do. Was an amazing day out there for all! We are fortunate to have achieved the day we had this year at Leadville. It was a perfectly executed day, from the feed zones to the riding to pre-race prep.

As Jeff K. said, trail conditions were perfect, just like last year; anyone who was motivated and had no bad luck couldn't help but have a banner day, myself included

I talked to Jeff & Dave W. at the pre-race expo; the team was obviously well prepared and confident, rightly so as it turns out. Best wishes to Jeff & Yuki at Breck this week!

Great effort regardless of course conditions. I was there when Levi set the prior record and conditions were close to perfect.

Congrats to all that went out there and achieved their goals! Racing at 10,000'+ is brutal regardless of weather and trail conditions.

Literally perfect conditions on the course and with the weather. They also graded a couple of previously sketching sections. All week long, including day prior, weather predictions were for much rain. As luck would have it, it didn't rain a bit and the temps never got out of the low 60s.

I hate to be the guy that brings this up, but out of curiosity, do they do any drug testing of the pros at this level? I'm not accusing anyone, I am just curious.

It's not a sanctioned race so no, they don't as far as I know.
