Upcoming Triathlon: Weirwolf 2.55 or Ardent 2.25?

Some friends and I are doing an offroad triathlon (Himalayan Rush | Triathlon in the Himalayas) soon. I think I'm going to be riding my Air 9 which currently has my all time favorite tire, the weirwolf 2.55s, on it already.

Someone who's ridden the course told me there's 1km of climbing, 1km downhill, and the rest is a mix of relatively flat dirt and paved road. It's a 10km loop that we'll run 4 times total.

Anyone think there is any value in switching to a set of the Ardents to reduce rolling resistance? The ardents came off my Tallboy LTc because I wasn't impressed with their cornering and prefer a large volume tire. However, given that so much of this course is flat dirt/paved road, maybe the ardent would be a better choice?

Appreciate anyone's input on this! Oh, and since I live in Kathmandu, I don't have time to order anything new at this time, and local choices in the 29er size is non-existent.

Sounds like a trip of a lifetime.

Please share pix upon your return!

I've been using Ardents on races with lots of dirt/gravel roads...I'm happy with them.

Personally I think Ardents are fairly heavy and don't roll that well. I really like the ardent but not for a mellow cross country race. I would stick with the weirwolf, you will know what to expect out of them
