    Stoopid 50

    Hey guys -

I have been thinking about road tripping to PA for the Stoopid 50 next weekend. It is almost a 600 mile drive for me. Somebody tell me it's worth driving that far to do that race. I could probably make a 4 day weekend out of it and get a day of riding in somewhere on the way up. Coming from SC. Whadaya think?

It's great race, the course is challenging with some pretty epic climbs though a 600 mile round trip is also epic. That's an awful lot of windshield time. My rule of thumb is 3 hrs max. windshield time for anything under 100 miles. A bit arbitrary I know, but it helps to keep the peace and harmony in my marriage and home.

Chris Scott puts on a hell of a race, and the Stoopid 50 is a good one. How many hrs to drive?

The course is a blast, I say go for it! The scenery from the top of Tussey is awesome, some super fun trails and the post ride eating (& beer ) is great. Worth it in my book

Sounds like good fun. If I could talk somebody into coming with me to share the gas money and have someone to talk to, I think I would make the trip. But 1,200 miles solo is a bit much. Maybe next year.

You know, I actually entered IM 100 last year. I had to DNF due to world-class, make you lay down and cry kind of cramps. Was feeling OK up to the 2nd rest stop and was on pace to come in somewhere other than last. Then on that long climb out of the rest stop, I started cramping. Got progressively worse until the sweep guys caught up with me and gave me some endurolytes. Barely made to to RS 3 and then about died between 3 and 4. The guys at RS 4 took pity on me and gave me a ride out.

I wasn't planning on doing it this year, but may have to change my mind and try to redeem myself.
