    RAAM is insane

The Ride Across America is crazy, insane, and nuts. These guys ride over 3000 miles in 9 days on a road bike day and night with very little sleep. Nutso! I'm a wanna be endurance athlete compared to these guys and gals. The Tour Divide is insane but at least you sleep every night--I would sleep with one eye open

See if you can get hold of the film Bicycle Dreams to watch about RAAM.

Jaybo, there's a RAAM Team portion if you ever get itch:-) And, if you want to get started down that path, check out RUSA, Randonneurs USA, at RUSA: Randonneurs USA

I have to admit it's a little bit crazy on the surface, but once you've completed an event like Paris-Brest-Paris (which incidentally launched the Tour de France) you come to understand why folks do this (including me).

I would do the 4 person team but the solo is insane! I saw the video Bicycle Dreams and it was incredible. Tough enough that people were having delusions and delirium along with kidney problems and other health issues.
