    Peaking and Tapering, What's Your Plan?

    What is your month before a big endurance race look like?

    My taper used to be very unscientific, I just took the week off before the race and sat on my butt. However, this article really woke me up:

    So I'd like to ask you all to share your various training plans about a month before the race. When do you do your biggest rides, two, three weeks away from the race? Do you start tapering down gradually? The week before the race, how often and for how long are you riding, and at what intensity? Any thoughts and insight are appreciated.

    High volume weekend 3 weeks out, rest week, taper week, race week.

    I've found taking a rest week kills my mojo (not that I have any at the moment), the break makes me feel really sluggish; generally I will do my last big ride 2 weekends out from an A / B race, then ramp up the intensity for a week, the week of the race I keep the intensity up but also a day or two off before the race.
