    New Race in Alaska!

If Huffy made an airplane, would you fly in it?

I've talked to the race organizer...he is determined that this event is to be a race of endurance, not an event to be endured...trail quality is very important to that vision, as are trail amenities such as warm-up tents in cold desolate locations, as well as hot meals and warm places to sleep/dry-out/regather...He talked with the lodge owners who have stated they will be making extra trips up and down the trail to make-sure it is as bomber as the snow allows...The race director has been winter racing in Alaska since the early 90's and knows what events could be, should be and have not been...this is a race not a suffer-fest...

Interesting race. I think this forum is more populated with traditional XC endurance racers, and very few of those live in Alaska, so that might be one reason for a lack of comment. This is sort of like the CTR, Alaska style, and it looks like a beast.

This is not at all meant to be exclusive to Alaskan racers...much like the Arrowhead 135 (MN) or the Iditarod Trail Invitational (AK) draw from local, national and international athletes, this is a race for those looking for something different. Coincidentally, the race occurs 2 weeks after the Arrowhead and 2 weeks before the Ultrasport...should be pretty good timing for those seeking to push the limits of their winter-racing season.
