    Lesson Learned

This newbie endurance racer learned a very valuable lesson this weekend: Pre-hydration for a hot race MUST include more than plain water. NUUN (or some other elecrolyte additive) is you friend. Cramping for 6 out of 7 laps in a 6-hour race was NOT fun.

Its interesting that for runners, the day before an event is all about hydration and race day is just about getting enough to supplement through the race. Cyclist kind of take it for granted because you always have access to water on the ride/race. After doing a little bit of running I have been more focused on making sure I am hydrated before a big event. Hope its not TMI, but light yellow urine is what you are looking for.
