The Race

The Summer Solstice will be round #3 of the Alberta Cup XC Mountain Bike calendar. The event will take the format of a traditional Cross-Country Mountain Bike Race with riders doing a pre-assigned number of laps of a designated course at Calgary Olympic Park.

Calgary Olympic Park is located at 88 Canada Olympic Road SW Calgary, AB T3B 5R5.

Registration

Online registration at ZONE4.ca - Race Results, Timing Software & Registration Systems will close at 6:00pm on Thursday May 30th.

Sign-on

Racer sign-on will occur from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on Friday May 31st and 9:00am to 10:30am on Saturday June 1st.


Pre-ride

Pre-ride will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday May 31st and 8:30am to 10:00am on Saturday June 1st.

The course will be marked to the best of our ability on the evening of Friday May 31st.

Licensing

Citizen class Single Event licenses will be available for this race at a cost of $10. You do not need an Alberta Bicycle Association race license or be affiliated with a club to participate.

Note: All participants who purchase a $10 Single Event License must register in the Citizen Class race category corresponding to their age (U19, 19-29 or 30+) – no exceptions! Riders are only permitted the purchase of two Single Event Licenses per year.

The Start/Finish will be located North-East of the Flag area at COP.

The Race

The GIVER8ER is an 8 hour mountain bike lap race at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary on June 2nd, 2013. Anyone can enter! non-ABA members may purchase a $10 Single Event License which is available when you sign up.
A helmet is "MANDATORY" and a good working bike is a great idea.
Last year we had 204 people sign up and 204 participated. There will be an area for racers to put up event tents right near the start/finish area. Spectators are always welcome.

Registration will close on Friday May 31th at 10:00pm.

Licensing

$10 Single Event Licenses are available for purchase if you do not have an Alberta Bicycle Association Racing License.

Reminder: Riders are only permitted a maximum of two single event licenses per season – all riders who have reached the limit will be required to purchase a full racing license.

The Course

Pre-ride & Sign-on

Check in and course inspection will be Saturday June 1st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. And Sunday morning from 7:00am to 8:30am.

The Schedule

Race will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm with awards to follow.
Racers meeting is at 8:45am, just prior to start, so be ready

There will be one feed zone with GU ENERY GELS AND ENERGY DRINK as well as water and fruit... Day licenses available...
