Now one for the Moment yeah ha

Similar rehetoric to the ID data base
To help out new and exisitng E owners to share our experience with setups and evolutions, as I have noticed a few times that we have started out with a similar spec but after a few months or longer some have modified there setups.
The Moment seems to have morphed more than most maybe due to the fact the ID was origonally a 6inch travel bike now reconfigured to 5inchs which its perfect for, course a few of us moved our 5inch gear over and really IMO this is a true All Mountain 6inch travel bike with allot of capabilities, of course everyone varies and some maybe happy right off the bat and that is a good thing, Quote:
hopefully this will bring some new flavour to our board.
:)
Also no "flames please" you can do that on other posts or create a new one if you need to vent, this is an information data base to assist not attack or hinder, so hopefully we will get some great info.

Maybe to help speed keep the pics elsewhere or create another sub thread for your pics and you can link that to your specs here, that way we can grow this information faster.

Also this would be great to review and update when and if make any modifications to your spec.

Also so other E models are not left out someone maybe if they feel the urg can take up another thread for the Truth, Joker, Dare etc I will be starting one for the Moment also, if we keep them seperate again it will help information overload.
cheers and enjoy ;) lets bring some pride to our board..

Hi guys. First post and i must say how impressed i am with the Ellsworth specific Forum.

I have a 05 moment. Last year i fitted a DHX 5 Coil shock bought from Mojo, a UK Fox distributor.
Over winter, i put my RP3 back on due to the horrendous mud fest with have to deal with in the UK.
I have just purchased a Ti spring for the DHX and hopefully aim to put on when things dry out.
I have now noticed that the stroke is only 2" and not 2.25" which is what i specified. The Spring stroke is 2.37.
I have spoken to Mojo, who have said, that according to their frame listings from Fox, the 04 is 2" and the 06 onwards is 2.25".
I have also spoken to Freeborn who are the Ellsworth distributor in the UK. They say that they have never put a 2" stroke DHX 5 on the Mark1 Moment.

This would mean that Mojo have been selling the wrong stroke shocks to their customers and we have been losing out on 3/4" of travel.
I am currently trying to get the shock replaced, but with it being used, there is a dispute.

Can you guys with 04/05 Moments running a Coil please confirm the shock stroke and not the stroke written on the Spring.

Many Thanks in advance.

If I'm 5"6 and plan on getting a Moment for trail riding (not so much for hucking), what would the ideal size for me be in the 2007 model?: Medium or small?
I'm always between sizes at a hair over 5'7". I chose a small moment since I wanted the shorter wheelbase and a bit more stand over. At 5'6", I'd say a small would probably be better for you, but a medium with a short stem may work.

Phew! 'Cos I got a Small on the way. Thanks!

It was a pretty good deal actually. $1,100 (CAD) for Ano. black with a Chris King headset and Thomson post.

Decided I needed to put my Moment on a diet.

So first off an air shock DHX 5 specially revalved by Mojo (so it does not blow through the mid stroke) about 300g saved

Wheels Mavic crossmax sx's changed for Mavic crosmax ST, about 200g saved.

Tyres Maxxis highroller 2.5DH ust to Maxxis highroller LUST 2.35 about 700g saved.

So in total I should have saved 1200g approx 3lb.

Went and bought some new digital scales (designed for luggage) and it says the bike now weights 32.8 lb!!!! assuming their right, this is still way to heavy for what I want. I don't want to take the chain device off but I just can't see anywhere I could save more weight.

Get rid of the talas and go with the 2011 float. There's a pound.
