the forum here has been dead for years.

i think ellsworth is fine financially, but Chumba is sure on the block.
I'd hit it, but I bruise like a peach.

Ellsworth selling off their frame-building factory "seems" like a desperate move, or maybe it's to get away from aluminum frames in the future...dunno.
    whatever...

I'm sure TE heard the news of Sapa closing before it was released, and quickly separated the Ellsworth name from the frame building facility.

It would be sacrilege for Turners, Knollys, and others to be built in the "Ellsworth" building.
But now that it's called Zen fab....

While back, TE was letting Turner use their facility to make frames.

Ellsworth might not me the strongest company, however the comparison doesn't stand. Ellsworth makes great bikes and put out a new bike last year and I am pretty sure they went to interbike this year. It has been at least two years since Maverick has actively produced anything.

However, sticking with a 27.2 seatpost is killing them, and I hear their costumer service could be better. I love my epi otherwise.

I have the feeling that Ellsworth is a bit behind technology-wise. Compare these guys to Ibis for example.

I'm still riding an 2005 ID and it's been great but I'm looking for a new ride and EW doesn't have a bike that interests me right now. To me it looks like EW hasn't really updated their designs all that much. Instead they spread out into things I'd never buy from them like wheels and road bikes.

The lack of carbon fiber frames is a problem as are some missing features like 12x142mm rear axle, etc... ICT is a getting a little long in the tooth and probably could use some updating.
