    Great warranty service!!!

I ran into a guy on the trail who's 10 year old was on a Specialist. The guy had a Sub 22 and broke it. EW stopped making that frame so his kid gets an awesome ride for free! That's right, EW replaced it for free with no questions asked.

He was also checking out my Id and asked how I like it. He then told me he broke THREE '03 Id's doing 10 foot drops. He calls EW and guess what, they say "Dude, you're not suppose to do that with the Id. But here's your claim #. Ship it back and we'll replace it." So he had three replaced with no questions asked. He said their Customer Service was a pleasure to deal with. He was a big guy doing 10 foot drops. I can see why the bike broke.

I just wanted to inform those who ride EW's that there ARE happy customers out there. I feel much better about my Id and since I ride only XC and some downhill, I doubt I will break the bike. But if I do, it's good to hear some positive CS stories.

And for any flamers who are going to bash this thread...don't. You've said all you have to say and we've heard enough from you. Leave us EW fans in peace for once.

I do have something to say as a matter of fact:

That is stupidly bold to admit to doing 10 foot drops when making a warranty claim. No questions asked eh? Well "Don't ask, don't tell!"

And saying that sh!t at then end like that will only attract flies. I guess that is what you want huh? egg em on!

I agree...highly idiotic to admit to doing 10 foot drops. But at least he was taken care of.

These a$$-clowns doing 10-foot drops on XC-oriented bikes need to get dropped 10 feet on their heads. A lot of these people then go on MTBR and whine about how their bike broke while they were "just riding around". WTF?

Want drops? Buy a bike for them. Want XC - get and Truth or an Id. Pretty simple, really. If the bike really does break while just doing XC, EW should replace it.

In any case, kudos to EW for taking care of that dude and not telling him to go f-himself, as he deserved.

Come on. Someone is fibbing here. If the warranty department had that kind of knowledge, why did they not offer a Dare upgrade? Please.

I am glad that there are positive CS stories out there. There are good and bad examples of CS with any manufacturer. Did you see the thread about Pearl Izumi? I have had nothing but great experences with PI. This is a good example. I guess the only difference is no one is paying $2000 for a pair of bibs.

I am not debating the post, and I think the story is good and proves the company is good but.....

Cool 10 year old, braking a sub 22, and 3 Ids - He must be a hardcore rider.

I would debate the credibility of a 10yo who has broken 3 Ids. What Kid rides an Id who is 10?

An Id and a 10yo - I am thinking Standover and sizing issues.

    I could be wrong.

I think you misread the post. The father of the 10 year old is the one who broke the frames. When he broke the Sub 22, he jsut got a specialist to replace it for his 10 year old.

Ignore my post - I need to go back to school

I ran into a guy on the trail who's 10 year old was on a Specialist.
Makes more sense now. A 10yo with Ids and breaking them - A guy with his 10yo makes sense...
