    Evolve...Ellsworth #3

Ever since 29er's came out I always wanted one because I thought it was a great idea. Since there weren't many tire, wheel and fork choices I waited. Now that there's more to choose from and Ellsworth makes the Evolve I decided to go for it.
I already have an 05 Moment that I've pounded for 3 seasons and an 06 Truth that I've raced for a season and love them both. I only had one service issue and my LBS and Ellsworth dealt with it promptly and courteously. I guess if your request for service is reasonable the responsive will be positive.
I was thinking of the Smoke color that I really like but since my Truth is that color I decided to go for something different. I looked around and JB Mountain Bikes had a Tiger color in stock and once I saw it I wanted it. Justin at JB threw in some goodies with the frame and gave me a good deal on an F29 Fox fork. If you're looking to buy an Ells you should contact them (http://www.jbmountainbikes.com/). Justin was helpful and offered some good advice.
I was a little surprised at the final weight of 28 pounds but with the starting frame weight of 6 lbs 11 oz I guess I should have expected it. I probably could shed a little with the grips and seat and some other little things but for what I get from them it's not worth the weight trade off for me. I've had pretty good luck with the Stans wheels on my other bikes so I went with the ZTR355 front and ZTR Arch on the back with American Classic hubs. Light and durable. I run them tubeless with non UST tires with just yellow rim tape and the Stans goop (another 3 ozs there I guess but worth it).
With the snow on the ground I can't really get a good enough feel for the bike to report on it but that'll come.

I'm working on that. The stem was all I had in the drawer when I put it together. A shorter one is on the way. I'll sort out the fork tube length and seat position when the weather breaks and I can get a good feel for things.

I'm curious. How do you have your Evolve set up?

I saw that frame hanging on JB's wall a month or two back and remember mentioning to Justin how striking it was.

It was missing when I stopped by two weeks ago...

Congrats on a beautiful new bike!

Love mine too!! I've been riding since 1989 and the evolve is the smoothest and fastest bike I have ever ridden. You can do any kind of riding on this thing.

Its not the brand of the wand that matters, but the skill of the magician. (Make no mistake tho, your brand does suck butt.)

    Nice ride Djb!

After scouting the Dam trail Saturday, I ran into someone else with a new Ellsworth. A Moment to be exact!
p.s.- You were right, it's a mess out there....
