    Evolution build thread

Picked the frame up for a good price.

Already have the rims built, need to buy the fork and some other odds and ends.

Looks great so far! Can't wait to see the finished build.

Those loaded components are actually pretty nice. Did you go with the loaded stem too?

Ive seen the loaded stem and the xlite ti is pure sex but im using a thomson that i already had. Going to be using an angleset headset but getting some blue loaded crank bolts.

So, my specs so far go like this:

    Ellsworth Evolution frame
    cane creek angleset headset, -1.5*
    Fox 34mm talas 140mm
truvativ noir cranks with blue loaded crankbolts
    xt cassette
    x9 type 2 derailleur
    easton monkeylite bars
    loaded seatpost
    wtb pure v seat
hope pro 2 evo hubs with stans flow rims and hope rotors
    elixir cr brakes
    x9 shifters
    thomson stem

I could've stayed 9 spd and reused all my x0 stuff but i wanted ten speed and either xtr plus or type 2 stuff. Buying the fork in a few days. Should be somewhat light but more importantly stronger.

Just rode!!! Its awesome so far. A lil squirly when doing a jump but its a bit more efficient going uphill. Ive never been an uphill fan though. Dunno if im sold on 29er just yet. The bike is solid though, great feel to it and a definite head turner.

To avoid that squirely feeling try a shorter stem. I'm running a 75mm and mine tracks really well. These frames have long top tubes and are designed for shorter stems to keep your weight in the right place.

Not an angleset but I have some offset bushings, well only the top, fitting both results in the rear tire (Ardent 2.25) hitting the seat tube. I wish the HA was closer to 70* on the Evolution! Can't say I can feel much of a difference.
