    Broke my Moment :(

So I was getting ready for a ride this morning cleaning my chain when I noticed a nice crack in the frame

If I remember correctly the Ellsworth warranty is 2 years......too bad my frame is a 2005. I'll call Ellsworth Monday morning and see what my options are (if any at all). Anyone had this happen? If I have to buy a new rear assembly anyone know what it costs?

I really really hope this doesn't cost me a ton of money to fix or else my trail riding days are done for a loooong time.

It was fun while it lasted...........

Looks like you've got the old chainstay before they beefed it up with a welded spider inside. This is a known issue on the first batch (I think they are the same as the old ID stays). Ellsworth will take care of you.

That would be soooo nice! I was just searching the forum it looks like a few people had the exact same crack in the cs. What year dis they beef up the cs with the webbing?

Mine is a late 2005 so pretty early on. Contact your local Ells dealer as they should be able to sort. Ells are probably pretty busy at Sea Otter but someone will be around,

Yep, I just went through the exact same thing with my 2002 Id. Ells does make a redesigned chain stay. Just go through your local dealer to get it replaced under warranty, assuming you are the original owner, otherwise it'll cost you about $500 to buy. Since I replaced mine, no issues what so ever and the redesign looks much better and stronger.

Just spoke to Kevin at Ellsworth. Nice guy and it sounds like they are gonna take care of me. I'm so stoked I'll be able to ride again!

That is exactly where my ID broke and was last year while Sea Otter was going on. I had replacement asymmetric on my bike in 4 days and I live in Alaska!! They will treat you right.

Thanks! It's my best Napolean Dynamite jump impression

And no that is not my Moment in the video....it's an old (2001) Turner DHR.

Not cactus, just sharp little boulders of death

It's been over a month and my bruises just faded away. My front wheel still hasn't healed though, still a taco.

    ON TO MORE EXCITING NEWS....

I got home today to find a little brown box with a shiny new asymetrical chainstay compliments of the big E. Awesome customer service! Time to hit the gnar once again

    Best part of the vid.

eabos, congrats on the new chainstays. It'll be interesting to know if you can feel any difference, especially with the way you ride, or land...

Yeah, gonna put it all together tomorrow. Evidently I have to switch cranks though, I had xtr's on there and Ells says they wont fits the A-sym CS. It's cool though because I have a set of XT's siting on my XC bike.

Anyone running a two ring chain guide on their moment? The e-13 DRS or something similar maybe? I was originally gonna go with the Blackspire stinger but I think I want something that will keep the chain a little more "in place". Most of the trails I ride are pretty rough and I'm getting sick of hearing the chain slapping against everything and getting derailed. Any suggestions?

Common issue with the 2005 Moments. Am I the first? Mine had that same crack and Ellsworth swapped it out a few months ago no charge.
