    Any experience with the Carbon Shock Stay upgrade?

    Hi

    I'm thinking about purchasing a carbon shock stay for my Evolution. Does any have experience with the upgrade? Does it signifantly improve the stiffness / responsiveness of the ride? The $500 upgrade price tag seems pretty steep.

    Frankly I'm surprised that Ellsworth doesn't offer the 142x12mm thru axle as standard on all their F/S 29ers. All their major competitors (Yeti / Santa Cruz / Turner / Intense / Pivot) do!

    I don't have any experience with the stay, but I recall that one issue with the stay is that the brake line would have to be internally routed if you used the guide that Ellsworth provides, which seems like a pain. $500 seems really steep and it's hard to imagine it's worth the upgrade.

    Glad you posted this up, as I was thinking about that myself. But $500 bucks? Even by the lala-land standard of Ellworthia, that's ridiculous!

    Same, saw the price tag and immediately was turned off by it. Completely not worth it.
