I don't know, but I'd like to speculate.

    Hopefully a 1.5 HT.
    Larger Seat tube.
    More travel (6.5")
    Lower leverage ratio
    More color options
    More shock options
    Room for 650B tires.

    Anything else?

Oh ya and make it cheaper.

Use to be quite the artist back in the day. It would be a dream come true to design bikes.

Any insider news for us Rogue RDR?

Timberrr, are you in Holand? If you were in Cali for Sea Otter I would certainly be able to schedule you in for a test ride of the new Moment ...

.... did I just really write that??

Holand? Like Amsterdam. That would be sweet.

When is the Otter? When will the new moments be available. I know I'm asking too much. Doesn't hurt to try.

Timberrrrr, I read your profile and it listed Nederland as your home town. I thought that was the Netherlands, but then again I am pretty geographically challenged...

The Sea Otter Classic is Apr 17 - 20 in Monterey, CA. http://www.seaotterclassic.com/
We will have a batch of the New Moments there, then all we have to do is reduce lead times so all are happy. Easy, right?

Jaydg, we have been out of stock for a while now on '07 Moments. All the backordered Moments will receive the '08 Moment. What IBD are you working with?

RRX. Do you mean that all recently and backordered moments will be the new generation (2009)?

I KNEW you were gonna get me in trouble, Timberrr. OK, remember, the sales geeks have all the answers, not me. They leave me out of the loop all the time. A little buz about a new generation is fun, and all consumers deserve to make a well informed decision.

If you are in the market for a MTB in the Moment class [which I personally believe is one of the most versatile, efficient and sexy machines around], you may want to consider waiting and seeing what gets launched at Sea Otter. If you already have a Moment order pending [which typically involves a deposit], I would contact your IBD for an update.

Please dont flame me too soon with all the tech stuff -- I only started this MTBR thing a couple of weeks ago!

I don't know that Ellsworth is actually labeling the new model an '09. I was told it is the Generation III.

Ells does not have model years, but rather just models. The year it was manufactured is tracked for reference and warranty purposes. Some models have running versions or revisions, such as is the case with the Moment. The current Moment is "Rev 2" - a reference that is used internally.

    Soooo.... "Rev 3"...... ???

I'd rathe see the Rogue get some updates. 1.5 HT to start.

Realistically though I think the EPI will get it before the Rogue. Soon after the Moment.

Perhaps Ellsworth will go Faux Bar? Seems to be a superior design now suddenly???

"but I do not see anything in the world of suspension methods that is superior to the 4 Bar.

makes sense. doubt they are giving up the horst link, but the rocker arms? i know they work well, the "true four bar", but i have never been a fan of the visual impact of that design. i would gladly give up my idea of ugly for an enhanced riding experience; how long does one have to wait to find out? if it is a new generation, "radical" new design, i may not have access to one for god knows when....

if they do give up the horst, like others, then what for U.S. riders?

Turners TNT is one hell of a nice ride. Don't knock it till you've tryed it.
I grabbed a good handful of brake on a rocky DH and if there was any brake jack I couldn't feel or notice it.

Ells and Turner both make fantastic bikes IMO.

Kinda hard to tell but in the first photo it looks like the seat tube still uses the 27.2 post. If memory serves the speedbal/crankbros doesn't make them that small.

Timberrrr youre too funny. As far as any specs go, Im the wrong guy. I just know what looks sexy, so I had to smuggle those pics. I'm pretty sure there is a press party at the Sea Otter Classic on Fri 4/18 after noon sometime.

Did you see all the curves? Not a round or straight tube to be found. The downtube is unbelievable, and the toptube...

How in the heck the aluminum bending / welding / skulpting Shamen at the Ells skunkworks in Washington did this is beyond me...

Same sealed bearings, just pressed from the inside.

Oh, and a Nomad front?? Maybe, I guess, if you only look at Nomads while you are inverted. Practicing your flips much? I cant even flip on the trampoline.... yet....

Is that an integrated headset setup I see?

Hydro-forming can do some wicked things. Are those drawen tubes or a welded mono like the Nomad?

Are you thinking tire debris may shorten the life of them? I would think they would be alright. Sealed and all. Hard to really specualte without betterr pictures.

I ride my bikes in all weather conditions,so you got my point.I just changed all bearings on my Rogue to SKF.Sealing on those is same as enduroseals bearings. Not good enough for my trails, but i have not found better ones.
I got some very sticky water repellant grease which i used when i serviced bearings last fallon my ID,i quess i need to check if that goo has survived winter rides.

Forget my Nomad comment it was not be taken seriously.
RR needs to buy that trapoline to practice some new moves

    RRX-
I'm starting to think you don't really push a broom in that building....
I'd hit it, but I bruise like a peach.

It says Utility Fielder on my card -- congrats to whomever won the pool. And yes, I tracked in some mud the other day after a lunch ride, and hapily pushed the broom...

Hehe. Didn't mean to cause a stir! This is how rumors got started in high school! I don't have any more juicy info than you do.

I meant to say, "RRx, thanks for posting pics."

    New moment pic and info

Just received an email from Ellsworth with the following text and pic of the new moment (hopefully pic displays).

The new Moment retains its classic geometry and incorporates a new flowing design with additional improvements that makes a world class free ride, all mountain bike even better:

Stiffer, lighter and sleeker upper linkage area
New, dual formed asymmetrical chain stays for increased mud and tire clearance as well as providing additional crank clearance
    Lower stand over height
Increased frame stiffness from newly formed, aircraft grade tubes
The new Moment can be ordered now and will be in full stock on May 1

Is anyone else suprised that they didn't modify the geometry at all! I thought for sure they would lower the BB a bit as it is over 14.5 inches with a 545mm fork (I am not sure what the exact height is so feel free to correct me). And yes, I owned one with a 36 Talas so I am not just looking at numbers, it rides a bit high.

    180mm Fork?

I see that he is rolling with a 66 ATA. Will 180mm fork be legal with the new Moment?

Lol Bender riding ANY bike voids the warranty.

We went riding at lunch today....and he saw this rock, and...

Is it still to early to ask about Rear travel? Is it 6 or 6+?

The new Moment looks awesome. Go Bender!!!

66 ATA. He has always ridden Marz. Kinda cool to see a guy like that with loyalty which is not just based on $$ or the highest bidder.

He promised me he would ride my son's bike tomorrow on the Sea Otter pump track -- complete with training wheels -- pics to follow...

Hope enough testing and better quality control for the new moment.

Epithany is too trouble when it just available in the market. I am a epi owner and suffered from the problems before.........

anyway, the new moment is very attractive, and should be a choice for upgrading my Kona, hehe.......

Hi all this is my first post. I m wondering like the rest if 66ATA would change the geometry of the moment? I did read that the reconmended front travel between 120 - 160.

Talas sounds perfect for the moment but that 66 on Bender Moment looks rockin!

I just ordered a Moment rev3 couple of weeks back, to restart my long lost hobby after a road accident.

    Hello from Singapore
