why do some Durham trail forbid students pass certain point?

I often see warning signs forbid students groups from hiking on the trail. What is going on?

Probably so students doing activities as guests at the Durham Forest Centre don't get lost in a huge forest and require a massive search party to find them. Likely not related at all or intended for other forest users, regardless of whether they happen to be students (not coming from the Forest Centre) or not.

Just a guess, but does that sound reasonable?

They're students, so they haven't learned how to walk in a forest yet. You have to take it slow with the young kids these days.

Because somehow, drop bears were accidentally released into the forest.
