Where to buy single speed parts in Toronto

Just picked up an old Cannondale to use as a commuter. Any suggestions on where to buy parts (chain tensioner, spacers etc) in Toronto to convert to single speed? Any recommendations on gear ratio?

    Misfit Psycles
They're technically mail order, but operate out of the Joyride150 building in Markham.

Where to buy single speed parts in Toronto

You can buy SS parts from Misfit Psycles online, they're based out of Markham. I've bought cogs and spacers from Silent Sports in Thornhill, not sure if they have tensioners.

Gear ratio depends on riding strength and terrain. I run 34 x 22 for technical trails on a 29er. Lots of info on this in the Singlespeed forum.

Nice! The Misfit sites has all kinds of goodies. Do they carry stock at the Joyride location? Seems crazy to mail order (plus I'm excited to get the bike going)

    Misfit is definitely the place!

Any order wouldn't be complete without a signed Dickie poster. Just do it. Avoid buyers remorse later.

Peter has stock there, but is not there every day from 9-5. Call or email first. Althogh he likes to portray himself as a bit of a curmudgeon, he is super-helpful and customer-oriented.
    Strava made me do it....

Bikes on Wheels in Kensington Market would have what you need for sure. They focus alot on single speeds and fixies. As would Urbane.

I can personally attest that any singlespeed part that is not a Misfit Psycles singlespeed part is sure to come with 1000% less awesome. Proceed at your own unawesome peril.

Yeah after reading the Misfit website and blog posts, it would be pretty hard to shop elsewhere. I like the mix of humour and surley attitude. Maybe it is an affinity for pirates as a bluenoser?

Anyway, I was super keen to convert the bike right away, but took the first test ride tonight and was digging going back to Deore indexed thumb shifters. I think I'll leave it for a bit before going single speed.
