    Whats everyone do?

Just curious what everyone does for a living?

I've been in IT for 15 years, currently a SQL Server DBA in Beamsville Ontario. I've done techie/sys admin stuff, been a developer, but the Database Admin role works for me.

What kind of a mix do we have on here?

I work in the design department for a major design/build contractor, specializing in steel building construction. We build everything from 4,000 square foot professional offices to 400,000 square foot industrial facilities. And, as the name suggests...I do some event photography, although not so much any more.

    Cool...

    Want an apprentice?

I found some summer camp type thing for explosives training. Nevada desert, explosives experts, and a bunch of big kids pressing the button. Basically, got to spend a week blowing crap up. It was weird, yet some how tempting. I tried talking my manager into sending the IT dept out for the week as a team building exercise.....she didnt go for it

well that is interesting - I wonder what paper?

right now....I work for a newspaper in the Production department /Transmission Room. I transmit the news and sports pages to our print plants across Canada ...

I talk to the editors all the time in Sports and News... ours Sports guys are a riot...

my background is in Graphic Design and the offset print trade where I was a Production Manager and Graphic Designer ...

after that I decided that I needed more of a challenge I moved to Pre-Flight Technician and entered the newspaper industry and hope to eventually end up in the Production IT dept once I complete the necessary courses for that...

in my spare time I dedicate my design and photography skills to canine rescue and produce 4 calendars a year to raise money for rescue. I think as a hobby I may end up doing animal photography and concentrate on that for awhile as my work schedule allows me to have time to spare.

go order your calendars now to help support K9 Rescue Me.... cheers, Mysty

Own a small IT consulting company - do just about whatever the client requires and when we can't do it we find someone who can. Mostly network design and implementation, server and workstation install and maintenance, and other general IT services.

oh and my other, and more important job, is as father.

Yeah, I love it and hate it because it creeps onto my bike funds from time to time. I just wish I had just as much Fox gear as I do American Eagle.

But hey, $40 for our jeans? Can't go wrong.
