    Toronto MTB in April

I am heading out to Toronto near the End Of April & Want to take in some riding while I'm out there. What will the riding be Like End of April beginning of May?

What are the best places to ride for an Avid Amature who's used to cross country but likes to ride all of it? in the GTA or Niagara?

Also Where are good places to rent quality Mountain bikes in the GTA or Niagara areas.

I ask because I plan to see both, got to take in the falls. Also What is there for good riding on the Islands?

Also Anyone know about renting Tandoms? My wife and I enjoyed a tandom cruser in BC because I ride a lot she rides a very little.

    Also What about Group rides?

    Welcome...

    Hey,

For tandem rentals check out www.zoomleisure.com. They are located in downtown Niagara-on-the-lake (a must visit-especially the fudge factory). From N.O.T.L it is a 25km bike path ride along the niagara river to the falls. Only one climb, on the way to the falls around Brock monument (a blast coming down on the way home!)

As for the islands...a mutli-use trail covers the islands. Really nice views of T.O from the islands. There is a great 'paved' trail network on the lakefront with trails heading north at the Humber River (west end) and the Don Valley(east end). The don valley has some really nice trails around the brickworks, see below for trail info/map

Dont have any experience with bike rentals in Toronto. But you can start your searching here; http://www.greatertoronto.worldweb.c...tals/Bicycles/. Cant vouch for any of them though.

    Lots of great x-country trails within a hour's drive of downtown Toronto;

    Kelso ;http://www.conservationhalton.on.ca/...?subCatID=1085
    Hilton Falls; http://www.hrca.on.ca/ShowCategory.cfm?subCatID=1084

For group rides; well youre here! just ask! MTB review
you can also check out the TBN (TorontoBicycle Network) that holds regular group rides. I thinks its $5 cover for non-members. The website also has other trail head info.

Hope you enjoy your stay....one question, where you coming from?

    Cheers

    You mention GTA

If you can make your way 1hr north/west of downtown, Caledon has some very nice riding, singletrack mostly.

Last time I checked, Caledon Hills Cycling rented bikes, http://www.caledonhillscycling.com/

For what it's worth, it looks like the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) will be going on strike this coming Tuesday. I would guess that it will be over before the end of the month, but it's something that you might want to look into before coming.

Just a foot note to this of my own experiances. There are 3 places in toronto to rent a bike. But they are not high quality mountain bkes with one exception. Wheel excitement appears to be the best rental place but no front or rear shocks and "not the place to rent a bike for trails". Set me free recycled bikes is about the same with less choice of bikes. Cyclepath is the only one who rents bikes with suspension and they require the cost of the bike (Specialised rockhopper) as a deposit. Without a credit card I can't rent from any of them without dropping the cost of the bike as cash as a deposit. 1 G in cash to rent a bike for a day when the rental only costs 30 or 40 is freakin' rediculous.

So Anyone have an Extra bike in the Downtown toronto Area and want a riding partner between now and next Saturday Drop me a line. I really did want to check out the Don trails well I was here.
