Stolen Bike!!! Rocky Mountain Solo CX: Toronto, ON: June 2/13

    Hey Everyone,

Posting this on behalf of my brother-in-law.

He had 2 bikes stolen from his garage in South Riverdale yesterday.

He and his friend chased the guy and found one bike.

Cops were involved. Police report done.

They canvassed the neighbourhood but didn't find the Solo.

Here is a pic.....red bar tape and Lizard Skin....With Specialized cages.

Has a new Tiagra 10 speed crankest, the rest of the bike is 105.

    Thanks

Welcome to Leslieville...I got broken into four times when we lived there.

Could be a blessing, your brother-in-law can now use the insurance to buy a good bike. Ask Osokolo for advice on what to buy...he knows everything.

Sent to Cycle Solutions mailing list both locations w/pic attached. Parliament store has a pretty good track record w/recovery! S/N would be helpful PM if possible.

    Good Luck!

There were +13,000 bikes in the downtown core for the Ride For Heart on June 2'nd....I'm sure someone saw it down there.

Chances are that it's now a fixie in yellow paint or parted out.

Igor was a good friend on mine...I think I know what happened to that bike.

That sucks! I read a good article a few weeks back about how bike thieves should be treated like horse rustlers.

If you think it was sold for resale, try Uncle Jacob's on Spadina...may be the last guy that buys stolen bikes.

Leslieville is the #1 break in place in Toronto, everyone knows the houses are empty during the day. Too many kids with substance abuse issues, but they flip the bikes fast so there's still hope seeing someone riding it in the 'hood.

More like South Riverdale actually now that I look at the map.

    Riverdale and Carlaw area.

    But still.

The corridor bounded by Logan and Jones, from the lake up to Danforth, especially around Withrow Park has the highest rate of break-ins and thefts in Toronto. All the nogoodniks know that the rich people who live there work during the day and that the houses are empty.

They break into cars at night.

Have you checked Jacob's yet? He keeps the recent buys in his basement until they cool off...

Lived at Greenwood and Gerrard for a few years, never got broken into, had a nice QR F wheel taken off a locked bike on my porch but I consider that at least partially my fault. However, one night I noticed a flashlight in the backyard, and went outside to see what was going on. Buncha cops; "Go back inside please". Pulled a perp out who was hiding under the back deck. Landlord had so much crap down there they said the canine couldn't even get around. Desperate times I suppose.....

MEH...you were in the good area. Had several friends that lived on First at Gerrard, never had a problem.

I lived in the "corridor" in the Pape/Dundas area. Got broken into 4 times...one time the neighbour called the cops because she saw some kids around the back of our place...cops were there in 3 minutes (they were having lunch at Gerrard Square)...saw my back door kicked in and went through the house with guns drawn. Found three kids hiding in a 3'rd floor closet. Don't envy them their job.

Kids were convicted but got a conditional discharge because they were first time offenders...but I had to find someone to secure the door at 5:00 PM so we could go to bed. Daughter was just a baby back then.

But then the OPP cop living next door had his motorcycle stolen from his back yard.
