which southern Ontario trails permit night ride?
I want to try night ride with lights.

Durham Forest does, however, Glen Major/Walker Woods do not.

I was at Albion Hills over the long weekend, and can confirm that they do not allow riding after dusk.

I don't, but I know the trails very well. If you're at all uncertain of your trail knowledge at Durham you most likely will get lost at night.
Durham Mountain Bike Association is starting Friday night rides at Durham Forest this week. Join the DMBA, ride with them, and you'll get night rides with no worry of getting lost.

thats new to me
i've biked there at night before and have seen others biking at night also and have never had park officials tell me differently.
the weeks leading up to the 24hr there are a large number of people getting night laps in.
is this a new policy at albion?
Dufferin forest just north of mansfield is good for a night ride also.

Durham Forest isn't that easy to get lost in to be honest. Once you hit any double track you'll find the Parking ---> signs that you can follow to get out.
Also yeah, we're starting up night rides on Friday at 9pm, come out and join us for a ride and see what you think

I believe that in many cases where trail areas only permit riding within certain hours, the concept that land managers/owners are acting on is that some wildlife do their primary feeding at night, and having bikes with lights zipping around may disturb their natural patterns and habits. Not saying whether I agree or disagree with that position, just trying to explain.

I ride at night with a light at Albion often, and I see many, many other people doing the same with headlights.

Technically, all the conservation areas in Hamilton are closed after dusk and it's tricky piecing together a ride around here without hitting at least one of them.
Please enjoy seeing this terrible collection of me - something wonderful is about to happy.

When I go "exploring" I can be out for 4-5 hours. Usually on logging type roads looking for single track

I just ride, no issues and have never heard of someone being kicked out or not allowed to ride past dusk, plenty of people out there in summer with lights.

Sorry al, I should clarify - the posted policy is no night riding (on the big board @ the trail head), but I don't know if that's actually enforced. Sounds like it's not.

if you're questioning how people get in, the gate is open as there are people camping.
for people who don't have a pass there is a money drop off box.

Not sure what you're asking...?
I'm just saying that Albion Hills posted policy (on the big board @ the trail head) says they don't allow night riding, but others in the thread have ridden at night fine, so it sounds like they just don't enforce the policy.
-
I am just wondering if the police kick out people after Albion is closed.

They gotta catch you first!
