New date, Sunday April 27, which will hopefully allow us to gain access to some otherwise soggy sections of the course, at the same time avoiding conflicts with other events.
I'm gonna spill the beans here and reveal that MTBR-EC's own Swabag was the rider who stopped and spent a full 10-minutes of racetime getting my sorry carcass to safety after getting taken down in my wreck.
Once my brain was restored enough for me to call in assistance on my phone (which seems to have taken me a while) he then hopped back into the fray and apparently opened a fresh bag of hammers for the last 20km.
My bike... well it was beat-up and crappy before the crash, and since I seem to have absorbed all the force of this impact with my face, my bike was unscathed, and is still crappy.

Added rep...cuz that was the right thing; also because I also whacked my head in the race...busted up my helmet...and I don't have that many brain cells left to damage...
Wrote a race report here, if you want to check it out... RiotOnRacing
My memory fades to black just after the Jerseyville railtrail section and fades back in with me chatting with paramedics on Molson Road.
All is well:
All is not well:
My only witness account suggests I was near the back of the group and a puddle or pothole pulled my front wheel abruptly to one side. (presumably more abruptly than the previous 50+ potholes we had hit). The nature of my injuries suggest my hands were still on the bars when my face hit the road.
I reportedly was knocked out for a few seconds at most, so Grade II concussion with less than 20 min of amnesia, black eye and road rash on face, nasty shoulder strains. ER in Brantford cleared me to go home around 2pm.
Said shoulder injuries are now my primary source of immobility.
Also: Looking at the second photo I posted, I'd like to apologize to any 1st and 2nd wave dudes who came hammering down Molson Road to find my ambulance cross-ways across the goddamn racecourse.
Just came across this from Strava, best thing I've seen from them in a while...
Relive my P2A using this. Or better yet, select Change Activity and paste in your activity, check off other riders and watch the action: Strava Activity Playback

We've posted over 14K of photos here at the new photo site. Was weird to be watching many of you instead of racing with you, but got some great shots of folks hammering the mud chute of death, which many rode successfully.
