Purple Hearts airs today on TSN for Bell Let's Talk Day
The story behind Do It For Daron is the focus of the TSN Original feature Purple Hearts, produced in support of the fourth-annual Bell Let's Talk Day. Purple Hearts premieres during the 10pm et/7pm pt edition of SportsCentre tonight and is also featured in all editions of SportsCentre on Tuesday - this year's Bell Let's Talk Day.
Directed by Gemini Award-winning TSN Feature Producer Mike Farrell, Purple Hearts shares the story of Daron Richardson, daughter of former NHL defenceman Luke Richardson, who took her own life at the age of 14 in November 2010.
The tragedy shocked the entire city of Ottawa, including Daron's hockey teammates on the Ottawa Senators - her best and closest friends. Purple Hearts examines this remarkable group of young girls' quest to honour Daron's memory, both with their play on the ice and their activism in the community. Their goal is simply, Do It For Daron.
Farrell is also behind Talk To Me: The Story of James Patrick Peek, an emotional documentary about the suicide of his best friend's brother, which was produced in support of last year's Bell Let's Talk Day. Encore presentations of Talk To Me will air Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 1pm et on CTV Two* and at 11:30pm et on TSN2.
TSN furthers the conversation throughout Bell Let's Talk Day with a slate of mental health-themed programming, including special editions of OFF THE RECORD WITH MICHAEL LANDSBERG and NHL ON TSN.
