Off topic - Anyone using an unlocked cell phone?

I know this is far off topic but anyway...
I have a Motorola razr that I purchases from rogers. The kicker is that the closest rogers tower to my current location is about 800km away. So I want to unlock my phone and get on with Bell or Telus. Easy enough to unlock, but my question us in regards to activating the phone with a new carrier. Has anyone done this? Any issues with the new carrier?

    Thanks

What you are doing doesn't work.

Rogers phones are GSM. Telus/Bell are CDMA.
    The phones are incompatible.

you'll have to wait to use your unlocked phone with bell or telus for a while:

(that is if those rumours are true)

you could just get a contract with bell/solo or telus and get a free handset.

Yeah it doesn't work like that. Unlocking a phone means you can use it on any GSM network, bell and telus use a different cell technology

Thanks guys, I guess I need to buy a new phone. Just sucks because I have two razrs that I was forced to purchase from rogers even though they are completely useless (both the phones and the company)

I don't use a cell phone much but I like having it when biking. I use a 7eleven plan with a gsm phone. I think it may be possible to use your existing phone on a 7eleven plan but I think your coverage would be the same. Some info here http://speakout7eleven.ca/
