You and me both! My Rocky hardtail has had a few to many episodes of chain suck and the chainstay is starting to wear through. I've been checking all the spots you just mentioned for a XC FS frame but the pickings are a bit slim.

Have you tried Craigslist/Kijiji in nearby cities? Driving a few hours might be well worth it if you can find what you're looking for somewhere else...it also beats buying something online without being able to actually see/try before you buy...best of luck!

I did see your Ellsworth for sale. Sweet frame for sure. I'm 5'10" which puts me right between a M and a L. My Rocky hardtail is a 17.5" and I've been very happy with the size so I think I tend to like medium sized rather than larger frames.

    i had a friend 5'10" with 32" inseam

try it last week - as he is interested in the frame as well (it is still a full bike), and he was surprised how well it fit him.

Before I settled with FS bike, I was riding 18" hard tail - which are typically sized one size smaller than the FS frame - for the same rider...

Anyway - you should really try the bike before you buy it. I dont think it is a good idea buying a FS frame without really trying the bike... but good luck...

    Another Possibility

Rocky Mountain Instinct full suspension (2001)
Size 18" (FS bikes didn't come in 17.5")
Various older XT and LX level components
Retired last year, everything still in good condition (including spare parts)
Looking for quick no hassle sale of $600 (have too many bikes!)

    PM me if interested.

i did see the ellsworth...but am hesitant on the known warranty issues as i am not of what one would consider 'raceresque' physique.

True goal was to find an anthem in 20.5 or a RM Blizzard.

i am a hair over 6' with a 31" inseam ....current bike sizes...
    19" hardtail
    58cm road
    56cm 'cross
and i have an 18.5 anthem that is too small.

thanks to all for your comments and offers...keep them coming.

    i understand

I owned/rode 5 ellsworths in the last 5-6 years, including the hard tail, that they discontinued since, I think.

My communication with Ellsworth, when I needed them was nothing but great. The frame that I am selling is the latest design, with no known issues (just check the Ellsworth sub-forum and start a new thread with your question). I weigh 215# in my riding gear, and the Truth is more solid and stiffer than TItus Racer-X that I was racing last year of Scott Spark carbon, that I am racing this year. Based on your height/inseam - large Truth will fit you perfectly.

If you have concerns about warranty - I will provide you with help if needed (which I doubt). I have personal relationship with Ellsworth customer service and have communicated on many occasions with the owner as well. I can guarantee you that you will be taken care of - if you ever needed.

Not trying to make a sales pitch here, I am not that hard pressed to sell this bike nor the proceeds from this sale would make any difference in my life. The reason for posting is merely to provide you with an opportunity to get a GREAT frame at the fraction of it's cost. I know how long it took me before I got my dream bike and this way someone will get this bike and enjoy it more than I can right now due to lack of time...

Here's an option I'm seriously considering. Only problem is I'd have to buy it sight unseen.

Great deal but I'd really like to be able to test-ride one first.

Just resurrecting this since I'm still looking for a used FS frame in the $500 range (I'm 5'10" ~30" inseam). Anybody see any good deals around or looking to sell one themselves?

Also interested in an 18.5" RM Blizzard if anybody is letting one go for <$300

I'd love that frame, but it's a NOS frame he's selling for a premium price (not saying it's unreasonable, just more than I want to pay). Used 2004 - 2006 Blizzards in good shape tend to go for less than $350 which is more in line with what I want to pay. If I'm going over $500 I want an FS frame (like a used Element/Anthem/Faze/ etc.)

I looked into that. $200 for PricePoint to ship a Sette frame to Canada via UPS. I couldn't believe it either.
