A great source for used bikes!!

    Hi all,

I just thought I would share with you a great spot to purchase old bikes!
The first place is called Bike Pirates..........here is the link
    http://www.bikepirates.com/index.html
A great place if you wanna get a cheap rig. It is volunteer operated, thus no phone and its only opend two days a week.

Also, there is a great spot in Toronto. The guys name is George and he carries all kinds of old frames and knick knacks. No number just an address.
214 Augusta Drive (in Kensington Market)
Nearest intersection is Dundas and College

    +1...

Bike Pirates is a great source for used parts and quick repairs, but they're open only a couple of days/week...

...I've built several bike with George's parts and help...also many quick repairs over the years. He's in the garage in the back of that alley, they've put a fence around him to keep the area looking pretty. His place is called Parts Unknown, and if you need something rare or from an obscure bike, he'll probably have it...just amazed that he knows what he has and where it is in that shop.

Anyone know how to get in touch with George? I don't want to drive an hour to get to TO and find him gone, closed etc. but I'd like to ask if he has a few parts.
There are no "mistakes"; only learning curves.

George doesn't have a phone or e-mail...he only has one or two light bulbs, and his place isn't heated.

It's usually hit or miss in the winter, but he's usually there spring through fall...there's usually some kids doing bike repairs for him in the alley as well.

All of his parts are used, he takes pride in not buying stolen bikes, and is probably the most savy bike tech I know. I've built 4 bikes there...one with his help (converting a 21 spd MTB to a 24 spd 29'er)...3 using his parts.

I'm not sure if Mike the Bike is still around, but he was just around the corner...he may have some parts or can check with George for you (he's a nice guy)...tell him Jack says hi.

Or, let me know what you're looking for...I'm usually in the neighbourhood a couple of times/week and can ask George if he's there.

Also, Igor is clearing all of his parts...he may have something of interest, but he tends to be pricey if he doesn't know you.

    Cheers

Hmmm...haven't seen him around for a while, will have to drop by his place next week.

Got some great deals on some bikes from him over the years...did you know that he's one of the models on the Canbike poster?
