Yes it is running again this year. Shorthills Cycling Club is trying to get registration open for Dec 1.

I am sure there will be announcements soon. Last year it sold out early so register early if you want to get in on it.

The website hasn't been updated yet so I didn't really want to get the thread going yet. I'll post up something "official" once everything is in place.

We did get our Facebook page started yesterday though.

The Frostbike v2015 is almost 50% sold out already and registration has only been open a few hours!
Just got myself registered, best get on it if you want to do this race.

The Frostbike Winter Mountain Bike Race v2015

The Frostbike Winter Mountain Bike Race v2015-frostbike_logo.png

The Frostbike Winter Mountain Bike Race v2015

So its a time trial mountain bike race. But you start in mini-waves of 4-5 people and race your face off. You fastest of two laps counts as your time and fastest lap wins (obviously). When you finish you eat chili and drink beer (responsibly). Its really an awesome time spent biking in the winter.

All the details can be found on our website - Details | thefrostbike.com

Registration is now open and 50% sold out in the first 5hrs - Register | thefrostbike.com

Oh, entries are capped at 100 people. So register fast.

Oh ya! This is not an official part of the race but how can you not do the smackdown with the small wave format.

I have heard some people challenging smackdowns already.

Have you guys considered doing 2 age categories for fatbikes? Maybe under 35 and 35+ ?

I 'm sure the Club will have to look at the race registration data and make categories based on the entries.

    That would be sick!

I remember the fatbike category last year was just one big group of like 25-30 guys but the reg tire had like a ton of classes

Don't think you'll see a cap increase. There is a standby list for people backing out. Each year we have this as some do back out. Contact the club through the race website about getting on the list.

The biggest problem the SHCC faces in holding this race each year is the venue size restriction.
Also the fact it takes time to start the mini waves. All racers need to be out before we have racers in the first waves finishing. As well they don't want racers standing in the cold wait for a half hour to start the race.
