Going to watch and cheer on a friend (think you may know her), and try to get a demo ride on a fat bike for the girlfriend if they have a small enough frame.

Really hope the Weather Network is incorrect with their estimated high for tomorrow. I just got back from riding at Hardwood & the temp was 4 degrees when I arrived. There was so much moisture in the snow that traction was terrible even on the slightest incline. As the sun dropped, temps of course did as well & conditions improved as the snow started to freeze. Either way looking forward to a fun day on the trails.

If you're making the drive up you might as well race (it's only 2 hours Is your friend SC? if so, I believe she has rented the small rental bike for the afternoon. I also have a small 9 Zero 7, & I'd be cool with your girlfriend taking it out for a quick spin!

I don't think you guys would appreciate having a rolling speed bump on the course. Best I stay out of the way!

Yes, it is SC! And thanks for the offer...we just might take you up on that.

I decided to make the drive up for the race.
Riding "through" snow for many years and riding "on top" of the snow for three years now, there is a few things that are constant; trail conditions can change by the minute because of a few degrees , sometimes (a lot of times) you have to push the bike, just because there is snow doesn't always equal great snow biking conditions.
Once you except these facts in your mind you can just get out there and enjoy being outside with your bike.

Makes the great snow days (there are lots of those) that much more enjoyable, there is no feeling like carving your bike on top of perfect snow.

    CTV news coverage

While the warmer temps were nice to ride in it certainly did not make for ideal conditions but still a great day to be outside.

CTV was there taking footage. It starts at the 7 min 34 second mark.

The Weather Network even did a feature on the race.
not sure if it was the same clip though as i can't access the CTV one here at work.
