    Duke's open

Even though I'm under a spending freeze I might be dropping by soon with some 'found' cash in my pocket. I really need a saddle.
    Cheers, Dave

I was in there yesterday to order in a Kona for my fiancé, good to see my shop back on it's feet with some space and stock.
I can't wait to surprise her with a new 29er, the only issue is I have to ride it home when it come in next week 20 km as it's a 14" and I'm 6'1". Should be a challenge .

    Welcome back Duke's

    The hits just keep coming!
Store owner burned by $48,000 tax bill
The bill, to cover the demolition of what remained of Mr. Duke's building after a February fire that levelled five properties, is just one part of a much larger financial impact that could make it nearly impossible to rebuild the old downtown retail district. The fire also destroyed a grandfathered tax situation – when new buildings go up, the owners may face increases of 600 per cent or more.

WOW, everybody seems to be putting their hands in your pocket these days. The city didn't even give Duke's a chance to do the demolition on their own (and hire a contractor at a much lower price).

My advice to Duke's. Sell the property to condo developers, and open a store in Bloor West Village or The Beach. Might as well follow the path of least resistance.

In fact, I would like to see him set up shop right next door to his cousin's store, Duke's Source for Sports, in my neighbourhood......yes, that would be nice.
