Crack in frame :( bad timming.

Well I found a crack. Sucks. Im 3 hours from the nearest dealer.

Seat post was always in the safe zone with abou an inch below the top tube. You can just about see the min insertion line through the relife in tye seatpost clamp. Winder if they will allow me to get a carbon frame for a fee.

    That sucks!

FWIW I hear that Cannondale are better than most for dealing with warranty issues, but timing-wise this is bad insofar as there are likely no more 2013 frames left for warranty, and the 2014 frames won't ship until likely late March. I ordered my F29 in October and it showed up in April. sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

What I can tell you, though, is that there is a very gently used 2012 F29 Ultimate for sale for $5k that I know of, in size large. Yes, it is a lot of money. But it is not a lot of money for a bike that awesome. Feel free to PM me for more details if you are interested.

That is a great price and one of my fav colours (black and white right?) it exceeds my saving by 4994.50. .

Im thankful for the warranty on the frame. In fact I wasnt bummed at all. Then I thought about my trip...and race season. My hope would be for the black and white carbon 2 from 2012 for a decent upgrade fee. But I doubt they have any of those left. Im not super comcerned at this point with the safety. It is a pretty small crack.

Next time I will leave the bike dirty. It hides the evil.

    I'm a Cdale fanboy but...

When I saw the pic of the location of the crack, seat tube, I was going to jokingly ask if it was a Cannondale.
Unfortunately, this is a very common problem with newer 'Dales.

Luckily, they have a good frame warranty.

Well, they're not called "Crack N' Fails" for nothing... not that other bikes don't have their problems too.

Maybe you can rent or borrow a bike for your trip?

I've done 4 frame replacements in the last 3 years for various reasons. Yes, I know that sounds bad but the damage was reasonable and all but one not surprising.

Two with Opus and two with Jamis. In one instance I've dealt with Jamis directly.

Anyway, each time I've gotten a new frame and always had a great turnaround time.

I would start by calling your closest dealer and sending them a few pics. You should see a new frame by the end of the month.

Hah! I have spoke with the rep before on another issue, he was very helpful. In fact i kept his number, you know, just in case.

Spoke with liberty bikes. I was making a stop by there on my way to buffalo tonight or tomorrow to pick up some parts anyway. They seem super helpful and said that if cannondale has a frame in stock it would be with in two weeks..ish.

Hopefully they have a carbon that fits the budget(wife scares me ) i will have tontell her that there is no alloy frames anywhere and if she wants me to loose this holiday poundage we will have to cough up the extra money.

She been really good about me spending money latley. Mind you most of that money is from meselling stuff Idont use anymore.

Work has been slow latley so my pay isnt what I would call comfortable right now.

Yours is carbon. They seem to crack lower in the seat tube. Kinda above the bottle mounts on the seat tube.

Forgot to mention I had it out on a hard packed 10km snow trail. It has double in size. Could have been cold related, but I doubt it will hold up to the in the saddle climbing that NC will bring.

I was told 5-7days. Now i just have figure out what happens with the old frame. Its a 6hour round trip and I am hoping I can pay for shipping instead of gas money in the SUV.

The guys at Liberty have been great to me.

Update, Cannondale kinda messed up a bit. They switched warehouses and had a new inventory system. This delayed things....alot. Liberty was great and even after all the call Kurt had to make, he was able to get Canondale to ship a loner for my trip just in case. This wasn't needed because they had a 2012 himod frame that needed a new home. The deal was good and I took the plunge!

Looks great and is a crazy light frame, carbon still boggles my mind. Its hard to trust in my head that it will take a beating. But everybody seems to say carbon is the stuff.

Even got a surprise when we weighted it, 20.07 pounds, and that's with not a stick of carbon on the bike, aside from the frame of course!

    Nice upgrade!

I ride on the same frame. Curious what you think of it compared to the aluminum, so let us know once you had a chance to ride.

4 days and counting before we leave for NC. Cant wait to ride the carbon. I will update while im down there.

There was an issue with the clearance on the chainring. It worked perfect on my alloy but there was a relief in the chainstay for clearance that the carbon doesnt have. So I had to order a new BB30 Wolftooth ring to replace the GXP I had.

So anyone want a like new 30t Direct mount Wolftooth ring.

Hi have 2014 F29 with some moderate riding this year. Exact same crack found yesterday at cannondale dealer. Service tech mentioned only seen twice so rare issue and should be warranty, he will check with cannondale. What did they end up giving you? Same frame? Thanks for reply...

The carbon was a replacment for alloy(+1000cad of course). The carbon developed a seat tube crack right where the seatpost stops inside. The crack wss not a structure isse but i had it replaced with the team version and then sold the bike.
