Budget light solution for 24hr SS?

My team has got caught with its pants down a little bit and we're cobbling together some last minute lighting for the 24hr race next weekend. None of us are crazy about spending $200+ on a light setup right at the moment so I was hoping some of the resourceful people in this forum might have some suggestions. We'd really like to keep it to $100 or less if possible. Any help is appreciated!

Since many people are going LED, the Light & Motion Arc HID light are popping up lots on fleabay- individuals listing mainly, Types and size batteries shiift but one can get one @ $100 a pop over a week's worth perusing. (Go to advanced search and check completed listings to see what they have been going for lately) I mention as low budget cuz you can pretty much ride full out with the 600+ lumens on high. Full kits single HID light.

    Here's an option.

    http://www.amazon.com/Princeton-Tec-...980677&sr=1-31

Cheap, runs off AA batteries (no need to have charging ability). Buy 2, one for the bar, one for the helmet.

Obviously, for that price, they are not the brightest lights. However, if you are not there to win and not doing sub 1hr night laps. They are suitable.

That's how we have been caught with our pants down. We planned on renting but left it last minute and now the website says there are no more rentals .

start calling around local bike stores. Some of them offer rentals. Hopefully it's not too late for the either.

I've stumbled across a local supplier of Fenix lights (www fenixtactical.com) which a number of people seem to like as a bike light. I can get 2 LD20s with handlebar mount for $150, giving me 360 lumens over 2hrs. This seems to me to be the most bang for the buck I can find given my current time constraints. Anybody have any thoughts?

The Dinotte's are on sale (minus the batteries + charger) for $95 USD. Not sure you would get them in time though.

Plan 1: BLT firewire for the bars. MEC has a 10w Princeton LED that runs off 4 AA batteries for less than $50. Previous years the sporting life tent at the race has had both, but you might want to go to MEC ASAP so as not to leave it to the last minute. Total budget for that setup is between $100 to $150 but as both lightsets run off AA batteries, it is conceivable that the whole team could go in together on two sets and switch them from bike to bike on alternating laps. With one battery change in the middle of the night for each set, you could get away with it...

Plan 2: Get on Craiglist. Now.

Plan 3: Bite the bullet and pony up the dough. I bought a decent lightset for what I thought would be my only 24 hour race. That was in 2000, and I have used it every year since. Total cost: $20 per year.
