Bike choice for Cape Breton trip

Going to a buddy's wedding in Cape Breton in July. I'm thinking I'll skip the golf games and bring a bike with me to go off riding when my friends hit the course.
Trying to decide between bringing the mountain bike or the cx bike. I'm thinking CX makes sense since I can just hit the road and explore trails if I come across any. If not, it is a beautiful place for a road ride. I'll only have room to bring one bike.

Any thought? Anybody ride there before?

The Cabot trail would be just too tempting for me to not take a *long* road ride.

That's kind of what I was thinking vs unknown trails and getting eaten by a coyote. Backwoods in the highlands though is breathtaking.

There's a Ducati in the underground at my parents' that I salivate over whenever I go there. It is a sweet bike. Looks similar to the one in the picture but greyish color. But yeah, hard on the bike rack for sure.

I moved to CB from Ontario recently. I sold my road bike for a CX bike.
What part of CB are you going to?

The wedding is at Keltic Lodge. I'll drive around the trail at some point...maybe go to Baddeck or Louisbourg. If I bring my mountain bike I'll probably go to Kepoch in Antigonish but I'm thinking for simplicity I'll stick with the CX. I don't know how much time I'll have so the most versatile bike it probably best.

If you do just one hiking trail while you're there, I highly recommend the Skyline trail. We saw moose and whales almost all at the same time!
Please enjoy seeing this terrible collection of me - something wonderful is about to happy.

There are plenty of times I've gone exploring on my CX bike and wound up doing 1000ft descents wishing I had my mountain bike

Please do plan ahead though, depending on where you go. You can be in true wilderness pretty quickly around here where no one will find you by chance if you run into trouble.

The Keppoch is also great fun. Very laid back, well built trails and they have a machine made loop that goes up and down that anyone could ride.

I don't mind showing you around my neck of the woods if you'll be on the western side of the island. Some people take the Ceilidh trail to the cabot trail as a more scenic and lively alternative to the transcanada highway. We have amazingly scenic rail trail here too.

I keep thinking I should post pics up

    Some pics would be great!

I was in SAR when I lived in NS. Definitely don't want old friends searching for me LOL
