Not me. Ice rinks are open so it's hockey time.

There wasn't much snow in the don, but enough that I could see a whole lot of tracks.

Was at Hydrocut on Sunday night - it's prime in there just wear cold weather gear.

With American Thanksgiving coming this week (I work for an American company), I have rides planned for the latter part of this week. Should be hitting Christie and maybe the Valley.
@Slash5: Has the deer hunt started yet in the Valley?

Rode Sunday, Road riding tonight. It's got to get a lot colder for me to go to the trainer. You really do get used to it after a while.
-
Yep. Few degrees below freezing here. Little skim of snow. I ride year round.

Your pics always make me a little homesick for Northern Ontario.

Thanks for reminding me - guess it will be Christie. Was thinking of doing Turkey Point or Puslinch (off work this week) but seems silly to drive very far when it's too cold to ride for very long. Find my toes can't last much more than a hour.
"Headwaters Trail west of Martins Rd will be closed Mondays through Thursdays from November 18 to December 12, 2013."

Interesting you should say this. We rode this trail system with a journalist (now based in Collingwood) from up north somewhere this summer and he commented on how similar the terrain was to that of northern Ontario.

Well, as a previous huge wuss for cold weather, I have been doing a varying amount of riding in the cold of late, inclusive of a CX ride in snow squalls on Sunday at -10 degrees for three hours. I can attest that layering properly and getting the clothing recipe down is huge. While the trails will be off limits for most places I would want to ride in the winter, the CX bike will be the go to unit through the winter, with hopefully much less time on the trainer this year than ever!

I prefer indoor riding when the weather gets very cold. Although I have the very best of winter activity clothes (I am a DH skier and over the years I have skied in the most brutal weather you can image), once I am soaked from riding, it becomes unpleasant. And I will get soaked regardless of what I wear. Sure I could just HTFU, but frankly my indoor setup probably gives me as good or better workouts than outdoors, so I miss very little (other than the obvious pleasure of riding outside).
My rides:
Lynskey Ti Pro29 SL singlespeed
KHS Team 29
S-Works Roubaix SL3 Dura Ace
KHS CX 550 cyclocross

Just completed a morning ride today, wasn't bad, warmer than yesterday. I figure one last ride before the snow arrives.

The winter bike is built up and wants to play. Also I draw the OP's attention to mine and CptSydor's MTBREC and friends holiday ride on Dec 27...
And here's a link to the thread for yer browsing pleasure. This ride has been a pretty big success, and is attended by most of the usual ECMTBR suspects:

Strava made me do it....

Will be riding at Mono Cliffs tomorrow evening. 6pm if anyone wants to come out... parking off the 3rd line..
We got a bit of snow, maybe 5-6 inches so not too bad..
Hoping the hikers have been out to pack the trails down a bit..
-
Sheesh, it's not even cold yet.

Winter has arrived in Kingston.....let the entertainment begin.

Had a great ride up at Christie Lake this morning. Conditions are mint! If your looking for a good romp in some light snow, get out there before we have another storm!

Without pictures, clearly your ride was a figment of your imagination... (I need to live vicariously through your riding this afternoon)
MTBR is serious stuff.
You never get better until you get out of your comfort zone.

I was up at Christie on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Was hoping for a bit more snow since there was a couple inches on the Hamilton mountain. Most of the trails only had maybe 1/2 inch on them. Still fun though.
When I was riding on Tuesday there was just enough snow to make the trails white. A cyclocrosser went by me and had to laugh - there I was on 4" wide tires and he's bombing around on skinny tires.
I can't get over how much trail has been built in the last part of October, early in November. I'd guess that almost as much trail has gone in the last month of the build season as went in most of the summer.
The berms on the G-out are amazing - you can work the berms and actually build up speed on the up hill sections.

This summer and fall were sort of like covert-ops with regards to building. There was a lot of work going on but it all got opened in the short span of a few weeks. I think we've added nearly 2km this year, which is phenomenal when you consider that it's all hand built!

I was debating on where to ride on Saturday morning...between the Don and Christie. This thread has just helped me make up my mind I'll be headed west, not east....

Be sure to follow the tracks to get to the new "park" section. It's not part of the contiguous network yet but it's not to be missed!

I think CptSYdor might have already taken me through there thanksgiving weekend. I definitely approve....

It's not even cold out yet. I ride all year through. Great ride today in Waterdown/Kerncliffe.
-
Just got a norco bigfoot and the ottawa valley is starting to pile up with snow
-
Please post what your thoughts are after some time on the bike.
I ride all year long and really enjoy winter riding. Trails have new challenges and look somehow different. You can polish your handling skills too in the snow and it is great fun. Quality clothing are key for an enjoyable ride. Evening/night riding in the snow is a lot of fun too. Really peaceful.
Chris.

Hey Chris, I got the bigfoot yesterday and have put 20km on it already. The closes thing i had to a snow bike before this was a hardrock with 2.3 tires. What I can say already is all the hype about fat bikes in snow is completely true! I remember times last year where I just loathed riding in snow especially fresh powder. Now i have more fun making my own tracks then following the beaten trail. If you plan to ride in anything more then a a couple inches of snow here and there this winter i strongly recommend you try a fat bike. Thats my 2 cents lol
Cheers

Snow's all gone here now. Joyride was hopping yesterday!

Did a night ride at Palgrave last night - trails are snow covered but hard packed and fast from the tire tracks.
-
^^ That's a damned hilly place - any traction issues going up the bigger hills in the single tracks?
