    Albion Hills Conditions

As of past Sunday morning, this is the state of Albion.

    Skiing - crap
    Snowshoeing - crap
    Trail Running - crap

    Mountain Biking - good

As long as temps are below 0C, the “Black” ski trail in the northeast section is actually pretty good to ride on. There is firm crusty snow…..so use wide tires.

For those of you who need a hilly, single-track fix, Mt. Saint Albion in the same area has virtually no snow and mud on that section…..nice.

How's the south?......have not been in a month and I know for a fact when its mild or wet out........the south is a crap shoot. I tend to stick to the north in particular........the pines during such conditions.

    Ride report.
    No single track rideable.

The park was closed today. "Area closed due to icy conditions"

I tried to find some single track to ride on... None was rideable. Here is a pic at S1. The bike completely sank in.

    Damn it! I hate snow.

    Snow !
Double track rideable if frozen....useless if above 0 C.
Rare bare spots and very little standing water so far, but lots of snow. This place isn't clearing up anytime soon, even after the big thaw on Tuesday.

    Mud, water, and snow.
Some sections of several hundred metres are dryish, but for the most part, the trails are unrideable. Mud as deep as shin height, and snow still up to the knees in many sections. Made for a challenging trail run.
Lost cell phones now being uncovered by melting snow......found one the other day.

For those of you doing the Giant's Rib Raid adventure run this Saturday, conditions will be downright wet, watery, snowy, and muddy......with many stream crossings. Should be interesting. Wear good socks.

... even think about it! I just got off the phone with someone @ Albion Hills. He said the trails still have a lot of snow and even ice (!!) in many lower areas, there are many flooded areas, and wet trails in general. They don't want to see any bikers there yet.
He said they will reassess the conditions next week, and the trails MAY be open next weekend

Do any of you Albion regulars feel it will be ready for the May 11 O-Cup?

if it doesn't rain, and stays relatively the same as is now, it shouldn't be too bad for you kids who will actually be able to ride...

Albion is my regular riding spot... now this year due to recovering from a broken leg, no place will be my regular riding spot - other than the road for the moment...

As long as it doesn't snow again........

Will probably be quite wet, with patches of snow here and there visable in the woods. Nothing like a snowball fight after an O-Cup race.......

    Current conditions?

I've been seeing cars with bikes on the racks on hwy.50 the last two days... I've been trying to get a hold of someone at their park office since Wed., but all I get is a machine...
Anyone knows what the current conditions are?

    Closed

I went to Albion today but it was closed. Of course some people were parking on the shoulder of the drive way and riding in anyway. I went to the Palgrave trails and they are in awesome shape.
