I'll be there too. Not sure exactly when but probably at least for the OCA AGM assuming they're still doing it at the show.
Please enjoy seeing this terrible collection of me - something wonderful is about to happy.

    Nope. Rather go riding.

    Edit,

Team NFI's fiscal measures for 2013 ban any event requiring payment to participate not to exceed 45-50 minute drive time.

It's not the same type of flea market free-for-all as the Fall show but there's still tons of stuff "for" and "on" sale - notably NOS 2012 bikes and demos. Caveat emptor!

I'll be manning the TORBA booth i suspect, BMX and 4x is always a treat, dirt jump comp too. trials isn't the same it was years ago, but i think it did start making a comeback...

I rarely will buy something, but those talking socks sound interesting...do they have sarcastic ones instead of the witty ones your getting, SS ?

I expect I'll be manning the Lapdogs booth at some point. Come by and introduce yourselves if we just know one another online.

Also, that's the easiest place for me to get my photo taken for my '13 race licence. As I am no longer racing singlespeed open at OCUP, I can no longer get away with just a citizen's permit, dammit!

There is definitely stuff for sale at the Spring show and you can get things at least at sale prices. The Fall CycleExpo show is the one with nothing for sale at all.

I think the Spring show is more of a haggle show. If they want to make a sale, they have to bargain a bit. At the fall show, it's blow-out pricing and not as much haggling until later in the day when stores try to move whatever is left and hasn't sold.

I think this will be the first year in a long time I don't go to the spring show. I don't need anything for the bikes and the price jack then discount game is lame, and the house needs a new roof. Priorities I suppose. Maybe next year as I always enjoy seeing the new goodies in the expo area and watching the BMX / trials shows.

One of the reasons I want to go to this show is to see the new 650B bikes....for sale. Unlike ExpoCycle where we just saw the manufacturers new offerings in 650B, I am hoping to see these bikes for sale and have more of a hands on ability to check them out.

Does anyone know if Seasucker rack products will be at the spring show? I'm very interested in them, but I want to touch and feel and try before I buy something like that.

How are the prices at these shows usually? I am looking for a full suspension bike within the 1k area and I'm not sure if I should wait for the show or buy a bike locally.

Regardless, I will go to see what they have on display.

You are wrong my friend .
There will be enough 2013 models there to keep shoppers happy plus
there is an area where you can take bikes for a spin .
A large area of the floor but a chance to at least putt around on the
    bike of your choice .

Similarly, I'll be setting-up and staffing the Hamilton Cycling Committee booth from noonish (depending on how soon I can get away) to 5ish (assuming I get spelled-off on time). Drop by and grab a map; they're ALL NEW for 2013 and prominently feature the freshly paved CN rail bridge over the 403!

Show was good, I was there at noon and it wasn't a nut house yet. Found lots of good deals on clothing and a few small things I was looking for. Only 5 fatbikes on display, kinda surprising...

found some decent deals, cork bar tape 2/$10 at WOB, shorts with removable liner $40, specialized helmet for half price: $50.

most vendors are doing 50% off clothing, @ europe bound floor pumps for $20 (as always), tubes (if anyone still uses them) for $2.99

algonquin outfitters had a deal on a soma touring/cx bike slightly used (not even noticeably) for $600 reg 1700.

I'll be going down on Saturday as usual...a little disappointed this year though as it seems like a few of my favourite retailers are skipping the show this year - Cycle Solutions and Bike Zone - Dukes, Sweet Pete's and Silent Sports also seem to be missing from the list.

I'll be picking a blue pass as well - great deal!

Some deals to be found today. Trek store always seems to have something stupid cheap. Last year i found time carbon atacs for $50, this year a NOS bontranger 2008 racexlite front for $30.

As usual lots of jerseys, shorts' helmets etc for 50% off. Worth going if, like me, you want some things, but dont care what brand/colour.

Scored a Rapha winter jersey 50% off and tried haggling for a set of Ksyrium SLS's for the cx bike but on the whole was pretty fiscally responsible. The coolest bike there in my IMHO was the Surly Krampus at Muskoka Outfitters

I was there on Friday and enjoyed the show. I was not looking for anything in particular, but the temptation to buy for the sake of buying was definitely a problem - so I addressed it.

I bought a Sugoi RS Zero jacket since my old one is falling apart and I really like this jacket. And then I could not resist buying a pair of Sidi Dominator 5 Pro shoes (common, they were half price!). My old ones are still ok after 5 years, but I did lose weight and needed a pair of new shoes. RIGHT?

We go every spring and fall, even if we're not looking for anything, just like to look. This year I'm in the market for a new bike, so we went on Friday night. I bought a Niner Air RDO. So excited, still pinching myself. Would have been out of my budget without the show special.
    I love riding my bike!

We went to the show on Saturday. We got our Blue passes, I browsed and bought some socks and checked out some of the venues

There was heavy traffic at the TORBA booth. Visitors were interested in learning more about the Nashville Tract.

I went Saturday as well, got a new helmet and a 29er FS frame for 299 with rear shock, KHS. Was a pretty good deal so I bought it, I have enough spare parts from my HT giant rebuild to make it cheap. Will worry about upgrades next year after I see how it works over the summer. heres a pic of the frame, yeah I tossed some parts on it already, sorry for the background mess but it is the bike room and well a project is in the works .

I was fortunate enough to attend Fri and Sat this year with two different groups
    of friends .
They also have a weekend pass that saves you money if you go twice (any day)
I got two tubeless 29'r mtb tires from the Trek store for $9.99 each :-0 !! , a gear bag , tubes for the
road bike , Park pedal wrench for $10 .
Was tempted to buy some new road shoes as they were real good buys on them .
Couldnt find a suitable carbon bar for either of my bikes .
ALMOST pulled the trigger on a Dux helmet but I got a new helmet last year .
    Maybe later ;-)
    Dux Helm - Dux Helm
Helped a friend in each group/day buy a new bike .
    Full Ultegra Di2 .... Mmmmmm !!
Nice to see a full Bianchi display and one from Cipollini bikes .
Is it me or is Cipollini the best sounding name in cycling ?
AKA - Chip po lean ee .

I have a few pieces of kit that I either want to say "Damn this feels good" every time I wear them, or else alternatively they become invisible and unnoticed (in a good way) compared to other similar items that lessened my enjoyment of rides. It's all about enjoying your riding and you can't put a price on that. Some of my treasured items I picked up for a song, some of them I paid through the nose for. I regret neither.

Finally purchased the bike I've been looking at for who knows how long...lol. Giant Anthem X1 29'er in Medium lower than msrp.....and picked up pedals on sale too. I am stoked to say the least!

I attached 3 pics in the '2013 Giant AX 29'er anybody' thread so instead of posting all pics again, here is just the one pic of bulldog Lily doing an inspection of the new bike.

Nice looking ride there Morky. Good choice in the end (pats self on back).

I too was at the mad house on Saturday. Got the wife kitted out with some nice clothes (two full sets) and picked up a sweet campy winter riding jacket for myself (not that I ride in the winter...) and a nice jersey. Everything was 50% off, but thanks to the extravagant price of cycling clothes, we still managed to drop $400. As some have posted above, it is about comfort, so it is worth it I suppose. Plus it's easier to justify when you can say "I got a pair of $260 bib shorts for ONLY $130." We are suckers aren't we.

Also, helped some friends pick out some new bikes. It's always nice to have friends on bikes they want to ride. More excuses to get out there.

Can't wait for the season to start!

Great show again this year. I gave away around 200 maps from noon to 5PM on Friday which may be a new record! It quieted down somewhat over dinner which gave me a great chance to chat with Igor at the IMBA booth. I nearly left the show with the Mukluk at Algonquin Outfitters but I've been eyeing up that carbon Beargrease Salsa's been teasing so I kept my money in my pocket.
Please enjoy seeing this terrible collection of me - something wonderful is about to happy.

They'll come back out once we get the boy on a set of his own. For now, snowshoes are the hot ticket and they really were the tool of choice out on the trails this weekend - so icy!

Thanks, I really thought long and researched. Anybody who has seen my posts, is probably glad that I finally bought a 29'er after reseaching, comparing and shopping for so long. I followed through! Yahoo!

Yep...we're suckers. At least I know I didn't fool myself into thinking I was getting the absolute best deal. I am sure these bikes will go even cheaper at the fall bike show....but I paid as little as I could for a bike I can use this year.

True...true...I still plan to get a 650B bicycle eventually. I didn't see the KHS 3500 for sale at the show either, and that is the 650B full suspension I am shooting for eventually, but there was the one AX1 29'er, so....

Also of note, there was a beautiful KHS Prescott (2011 or 2012) with American Classic BXC wheels going for $2300 that I would have seriously considered instead of the AX1 29, it felt light, but the Prescott was a Large.

Bonking ... not feelin' well Still deteriorating...

Still deteriorating... I guess the last show I went to was Spring 2011. The lack of decent parts/gear for-sale versus the sheer volume of road bikes has continued, I know different people have different price-points and purchasing goals but the TO Bike Show, for me, is now about getting trail maps and watching the BMX Jam. I want to say I saved $20 on a pass for Blue MTN but after parking & admission it's a loss not a gain. "Welcome to Toronto, the process of stripping cash from you is at 100% efficiency"

That's just my take on the whole thing so don't feel any need to agree or disagree. 10 years ago it was a great place to score deals on high-end parts & gear, PLUS all the info booths and riding competitions. Now I'm running out of reasons to go back each March... this used to be a cool Bike Show I once saw a Ryan Leech trials demo...

In other news, it's March, the snow is kinda melting, time for trail work and dreaming of summer

I haven't been for 15 years or so but I was disappointed with the lack of gear as well, fine if your a roadie. Trevor did a good job at the trials demo, a little short and not what I seen last time here with Hans "NO WAY" Ray. I did get a FS 29 frame and rear shock for 299 so it was worth it for me to come. I do agree though 14 for parking 26 for the two of us to get in and 4.25 for a bottle of water. I also got a nice helmet and the GF got new shoes, we did save money and it was a day out. On a side note London had its first anual bike show tied in with the motorbike show, it was disappointing at the lack of support the local shops showed. First Cycle works was there and so was out spoken, I think the local guys should get of their asses and put for an effort. Parking is free maybe they should move the TO one to london.

This was my first bike show. I got a couple of new jerseys and a pair of glasses so it was worth it, but I was hoping there would be more parts and accessories. Bike wise, there were a few good sales, but for the most part prices seemed to be the same as in store.

Will the October Fall show have good deals on '14 650b bikes like Giant Trance and Santa Cruz Solo? Need a new bike for next season.

Highly doubt it. The fall show is where the old models are normally blown out to make way for the new stuff. Seeing as 650b will likely be the 'it' thing for next year, I doubt you'll be finding any deals till a year from now.

Figured '14 wouldn't be blowing out as they'll likely just be getting floor stock to show off.

Building a bike is probably not in the cards. Too many unknowns for me and don't want to dedicate the time to sort them out.

call around to giant dealers then, as far as i know, most of the 650b med to higher end are already sold out in hardtaila. not sure on the fs bikes. best of luck.

actually cyclepath in oakville might be able to help you out. call and ask for jeff, tell him what you wanted. personally dont think there will be any GOOD deals on 650b at fall show.

I'm new here and not sure if this is the right thread, but does anyone know if they will be selling any touring bikes at the show? I'm interested in the 2013 Salsa Fargo and Surly DHT. Thanks

My suggestion, if you have very specific desires for a bike, the bike shows (fall or spring) are not the place to be looking. They tend to be blow-out of old models of pretty standard style bikes.

I haven't been in a while, but I would say those two models likely wouldn't find their way to the show anyway. If you want them, probably find you nearest local dealer and order one in (may be in stock here and there).

If you really want one of those

I saw at least one booth selling a Fargo (Muskoka Outfitters? - it was in March...) but Cpt Sydor is right, hooking up with the perfect bike is totally a mater of chance at the show. The best strategy is to show up with an open mind and a fat wallet.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll rely on my LBS for these bikes. I had a feeling it would be like that but I think I might still check out the show. I don't think my wife would like the fat wallet idea but to be honest, I have been dreaming about getting a decent MTB for some time now...

What's your budget? Have you thought about building your own like what Maynard has done?

I went to the fall show and didn't find the bike I wanted, so I'm now building one from the ground up. Also went with a Chiner CF frame and rim set, waiting for it to arrive.

    Good luck finding your bike.
