14th Annual Woodstock "Dairy Capital Stampede " 6-hr relay race Saturday Sept. 14th

14th Annual Woodstock "Dairy Capital Stampede " 6-hr relay race Saturday Sept. 14th

    Race starts at 10am sharp!

This race has been moved-up in the calendar to guarantee a much lesser chance of snow or sleet or overall cold riding conditions... let's hope next weekend has some good weather! It's time to race again at "The Pines" in Woodstock!

FYI, based on mixed feedback we are doing a slightly shorter course this year, so good teams and fast riders should see lap times under 30mins and therefore pushing for 13+ laps in the 6hr race. Maybe next year we'll do a longer race-course instead

Double FYI, first-lap is designed to get riders spread-out a bit compared to last year, so no 354 trail until the 2nd lap you can expect mostly the same mix of flowy trails with just enough elevation and well-placed trees to keep things interesting on the rest of the course.

Please email Mark or Ryan to pre-register teams... show-up well before 9:30am on race-day to get things sorted out. You can contact me if you have any general questions and I'll do my best to pass them along

    In on a tag-team.

Pretty excited to ride somewhere I never have before, especially since it's within a 1 hour drive of home.

That fun, rooty, stupid-steep climb that seems longer after each lap? Sure is part of the course still

I did a lap of the course last week, best berms by far of anywhere in Ontario. Not too fond of that rooty stupid-steep climb though. Plan on doing tag team with my wife this weekend

Long-term weather forecast looks great for Saturday. But we can throw some water on those roots for you to make it more of a challenge

Cleared a downed tree tonight from the race course, saw a number of people still out pre-riding as the sun went down, good stuff! Saturday weather still says 18C, but with a frost warning the night before something tells me the morning might be cold.

When in doubt, go see Pedal Power bike shop on Dundas in downtown Woodstock for race info or to register your team. We only need the team registered beforehand (ie. "Team ABC, group of 3 riders"), don't need all the individual rider details because all riders must check-in on race morning, sign the waiver, pick-up their number plate & allotted number of zip ties, and get their swag giveaway item.\

    Cheers!

That was a super fun race. Great grassroots feel, and well organized.

Those berms were a blast. First lap was a bit of a bust (having never ridden there before), so it was hard to judge the corners and I was on the brakes too much (bermed or not). As I progressed through the laps, I became way better at laying off the brakes. The last couple laps I was getting squirelly through most of the corners as I was railing them railing hard and smiley the whole way.

And the freaking SOLO's were destroying it. I know the top 3 guys were elite, but they were freaking hammering it. I was racing tag with an elite racer, we were about 1 minute back after the first lap, then lost another minute, it wasn't until about lap 7 that we finally passed them. I'd be curious, as we may have been the only team to be in front of the lead solos at the end of the race.

Big thanks for the Woodstock club for organizing the race. I'll be back next year.
