    XTR shifters repair advice

I have a set of sl-m970 I was given, the bottom lever is very smoothe, but the top lever is very stiff, I have the shifter split in half. I'd like to totally dismantle the shifter assembly, and put it back together, but I can't figure out how it comes apart. any help is appreciated.

also please dont suggest I bring it to my local bike shop, if I can't fix the shifters myself, I'll throw it out.

One of the few times to use WD40 on a bike. Give the lever a good flush with WD40 grease goes hard over time. Then maybe a few drops of "light" oil.
Duct tape iz like teh Force. It has a Lite side and a Dark side and it holdz the Universe together.

As above, try flushing it completely, first. Indexed shifters are every bit as complicated as a watch or other clockwork mechanism, and you can get in way more trouble by disassembling them.

If flushing doesn't fix it, I would pitch them.
